Its the break I'm having trouble with, or the break looking smooth and seemless should I say - the actual turning over is of an okay standard now and with practice will get better

Not sure if 1:11 is accurate, probably more so around 1:04, the "get ready"

You might want to have a look at the side count get ready in Expert Card Technique. I prefer it to the one taught in RRTCM, which is the get-ready performed in the video Jim linked to.

Very easy get-ready is, when you take just a single card (face down) to your right hand, gesture with it as your left hand pulls off and back another single card. Then replace card from your right hand, and here's your pinky break :)

Agreed - this is a great easy-to-learn technique and works well (as long as there is a justification for waving around the single card)

When people first started out did they also have problems with these moves though?

I understand it takes time and effort, and obviously I don't expect it to happen overnight

The DL is one of the hardest moves to get right.

        Yes!

I thought DL? eh? that's not going to fool anyone, or I will just never pull of a convincing one

I'm not even sure which one I use but I think it is referred to a snap double?

It definitely has a 'get ready' (i use a thumb count in mechanics grip) apparently not the best is quite easy to spot but it works for me and I have never been caught out

best advice I can offer is pick a method that you like the look of, looks and feels natural to you, practice, practice and more practice

I might post an ACR performance video in the hope that someone can tell me the DL method I am using
