Thank you Sammy-my son is always saying this.
He thinks Dad knows everything!!!!! A good lad--well he is 23.
The thing is:
I am just an ordinary guy who has had a great passion for Magic since the age of 9.
At 14, admitted to the Staffs Magic Society where those wonderful magicians treated me as a colleague and helped me again & again. We also had Leslie Melville, Donald Bevan & Christopher Woodward there as young teenagers.
I have been in Magic for 70 years.
I have performed a heck of a lot of Magic in all its branches except Escapology.
I have seen so much Magic.
I have written and lectured many times on it.
I have read, and read and read. Always books since childhood. Not just magic. Collected about 1000 Magic books.
As a teacher of Drama & Theatre, a Director, Choroegrapher, adjudicator, Examiner & actor--I have simply had to develop a good memory-and keep files!
Luckily I was born with a creative streak and an ability to get on with kids and adults. Both individuals, students,& audiences.
This was questioned many, many times by visiting lecturers who would bring students to watch me teach.
I could never tell them why it happened. How it worked. I never tried to discover where my 'instant relationships with people & audiences' came from--in case, finding out made it disappear!!
Then when I was giving the Eulogy at my Mum's funeral in January 1994--I stopped--I had just said 'how she got on with everybody in the town, helped everyone she ever met, people talked to her, listened to her etc' and I realised where this 'abilty had come from. And said so to the congregation. And thank you to Mum.

That is all it is to it.
