Yeah very true. I noticed a few people recording inside the winter gardens and they were were all using mobile phones or pocket cameras. Nobody seemed to bother.
I've made many blogging films with pocket cameras before but the results have always been fairly typical of a blogging film - average at best. Whilst they are cheap, cheerful and convenient, they have always let me down in the past when recording in pubs. I've never found one that handled low-light and noisy conditions very well. The camera I used for the movie is a chunky beast but sacrificing convenience for quality worked wonders. "The Conjurors Convention" turned out to be the first blogging film that I've made (or even seen) where the video and audio quality is consistently great, even in lower-light places like The Ruskin and in some of the other pubs that I visited.
I was thinking about doing a sequel but the original will be hard to beat as I just seemed to be in the right place, at the right time and with the right recording equipment. Are there any better conventions in the UK than Blackpool? I've not been to any others.
