Quite pleased with myself :)

Myself and my business partner made a decision towards the end of last year to go full time in magic. We sat down and made a list of goals and I've just been looking at them and we are way ahead of schedule. We have actually done better in every area but the one I'm most pleased with is restaurants as we are currenly working with 15 different restaurants some of which we perform every week in.

So I thought I'd start a pleased with self thread

Hmm Stephen was that a bit of misdirection lol still not heard why your pleased with yourself.

As to tips for working at a holiday camp or similar, I can't speak from experience as I've never done it.
I can say one thing, assuming your magic is commercial and you have strong presentational skills the difference between the struggling magician and successful one can be defined in one word. Marketing.
Having a background in Sales is a major advantage, failing that the study of this subject and application of what is learnt will reap major rewards.

Earning more than i thought i would be. Nice amount of bookings. Currently in the stages of getting a resturant contract. Nearly finished my promotional DVD. Getting great feedback from clients. Loving doing magic for a living. Life is great

If you're looking to get into th holiday aprk circuit, I know that there are a few key agencies to get in with, but I don't know their names.

However, one guy who I have worked for in the past, who is based in Yarmouth and Norwich, is Nice People Productions - pm me for the contact details. I know for a fact some of his acts do the holiday parks, but I don't know if he needs magicians or not at the minute.

Worth a try, though, eh?

I'll hopefully be pleased with myself tomorrow late afternoon - got my first ever (paid) gig. A 5 year-old's birthday party. Not much magic really, but still a challenge.

Actually, on saying that, I'm quite pleased with myself for being all set for it at such short notice. :D

Well, where do I start?

Happy Toad - well done and great news. Always nice to hear about and share in other people's success.

Stephenmagic - why not enquire directly at the holiday camp? From what I recall there are many of these on the look out for reps with talents such as yours and there are many famous people who started out entertaining as a red coat etc. You never know, this may be your route to stardom but I'd suggest gaining a lot of experience before moving into corporate as i suspect that it's a different ball game.

Parallel Lines - bring back memories of the 70's. Good music by Blondie
