Not bad. A few comments though:

  • You didn't show how you got into the double so make sure it's very clean. It might be an idea to hold it on the deck as it's probably going to be hard to have a spectator sign a double.
  • You need to make the steal cleaner. As it is, the card goes out of view for several seconds, and you could be doing almost anything during the time. The move should be under the cover of a very natural action as you bend the wrist in prior to leaving the card on the table.
  • The card was visible as you did the move over the deck. Again, this just needs a bit of practice and to be a bit more relaxed.
If that sounds harsh, sorry. It was good overall, it just needed a bit of work to become perfect.

I agree with kati's points.

The handling of the effect seems awkward. I don't want to sound like I'm jumping on you, but certain elements need to be kept in mind when working on an effect.

When asking a spectator to sign a card, holding it in the way you did here is very suspicious. Why can't you put the card down or hand it to the spectator to sign?

The way you place the card on the table seems fishy, too. Also, this handling requires you to watch your angles, and spectators to either side can spot what is going on.

I'm assuming you are trying to sell the concept of a single card here - and the isolation from the deck helps to promote that, but everything else makes the effect seem peculiar. I'd take Kati's points to heart, and maybe think about different ways to handle the card and make the effect more powerful.

You could use a move that Oz uses in his 2 Card Monte to get into a double, and that would make the spec sign a single card.

If you own Born To Perform, and don't know what I am talking about, PM me
