i had some guy watching me very closely this weekend and pretty much nailed it on the head how i'd done an effect, explaining how he thought i'd forced and replaced a card. my reaction was to say "that sounds too complicated for me mate" and he assumed he was wrong, fantastic!

I recall someone suggesting that you should put on a face showing pure terror, and just say "I... Don't know".

Maybe you could warily examine your hands, and say "er... they've never done that before" or something to that effect.
