Programs for video editing...

Postby macos » Apr 2nd, '06, 12:18

Okey so this question isn't directly about card magic. But what programs do u guys recommend for simple video editing. Say I want to add some text, music and maybe cut the vid at the beginning and the end. I probably could find tons of free programs out there but I'm sure some of you already know some good ones. So what do guys recommend?

Video Editing

I've done a lot of amature video editing over the last year and I would recommend Sony Movie Studio for a beginner. The interface is relatively intuitive. You place your video or image files on one line and audio files on another line and match them up. It has plenty of tool to add text and graphics. I found I could use it pretty good (meaning cuts, transitions, slow motion, fast motion, special effects after about 8 hours.

You might think that is a long time, but many other programs are much more complicated and will take you much longer.

Also ensure your computer can handle the program. When processing audio and visual files in conjuction with edits and graphics it can take a long time.

If you have Windows XP, the operating system comes with a built in movie editor call "Windows movie maker" It won't have all the bells and whistles as Soney Movie Studio, but it is also easy to maneuver and might save you some cash if you have XP.

Thanks alot archimage but I think I'll stick to free (if there's any) programs as I don't really need to do anything really complicated. 8 hours of learning is nothing to our endless struggle mastering card conjuring :D. But thanks alot for the tips, I'll look into that movie maker as I have the XP!

XP Movie Maker

Windows Movie Maker in XP has basic transitions and a video/audio tracks to insert your clips.

Look in all programs and it should be near the last of the programs. Other operating system have it under accessories. In any case you should have it.
