Marvelous Brass Box - help needed!!

Postby Ozman » Sep 15th, '03, 13:11

hi there - i have the marvelous brass box... it's an awesome trick but I'm having issues actually completing the inital 'disappearing' of the spectator's ring!!! i employ a few different techniques to palm the offending article, but my sleight of hand is not always flawless... of course i am continuously practising but i wondered if anyone had any good techniques i could try to make that ring vanish!!!

hmmm... just a thought... could you use Sean Fields Flight 204 to 'disappear the ring'? i don't know how it works, so I'm not sure if that's a good idea...

i have tried the approach suggested, but a lot of lairy types that i do magic for are quick to point out that they are quite obviously not holding their ring (if you'll pardon the expression)...

ozman, if you don't already have it you might want to get "Bobo's modern book of coin magic". It is slmply littered with great ways of vanishing coins (or in your case rings).

Two popular ones that spring to mind are the "retention vanish", and the "french drop" - If you learn these I promise you you will not regret it. They will be useful for so many things. I adit it's going to take some practice - but tthen we all must suffer for our art :)

Alternatively - check out my routine with Yankee Toms "Dis-Cord" (now reduced to £9.90 at www.emagictricks.co.uk ). You have to palm the ring at one point - but you have (imho) a good mis-direction going on - which should make it much easier.
