I don´t like Criss Angel streetmagic at all. I watched Mindfreak and I felt very dissapontet.
He does a good job doing stage magic. He has goods ideas and presentations. But in the streets, c´mon. He just look like a member of the rock band Poison, pretending to do tricks with his friends or telling people how to react.
Like with the voodoo doll, give me a break!!! If you think that is Magic, I´m going to feel very sad. Because Magic has become something VULGAR. Something that my sister and his dog can do.
In that effect all the people acts sooo bad, that Í didn´t know if I wanted to laugh or cry.
When you perform an effect, the people who watches you, has not to realize how you´ve done the effect. They are eyewitness.
But if they see the whole thing, waht´s the point? And if they pretend they didn´t see it, they are lying to you: the spectator of the tv show. If not, why would he use people to see the efect. You, as a tv spectator, trust in that people, like you where there. If not, again, what´s the point?
So I think Criss Angel is just a Marketing idea, like David Blaine. They won´t be remembered like Roberto Giobbi, René Lavand or Dai Vernon.
These people don´t need to be striked by a lightning to be remembered.
The Marketing products will be forgotten.
But, they are effective as they make money, because of the sponsors and the rating of the show. Again, just marketing.
I don´t want to ofend anybody, is just my opinion.

I think he's cool. I watched him escape from a glass tube in a water tank last night and get hit by a car and walk down a building and think that was pretty impressive but I have read all the threads about him having stooges and camera tricks in his shows and worked out a couple of his tricks and his deja vu trick looked like the couple in the hallway could have just walked backwards while criss blocked the camera lol so the jury is still out. I still think he is cool but I'm just a little bit skeptical of him

yeah I saw that water tank effect last night.... all the way through the show promoting it as an impromptu kind of escape where he had to try to figure out how to escape while in their. what pathetic rubbish, maybe more believable if he visually escaped and climbed out the tank - but for the bubbles to come up an for him to appear on top of the car... give me a break - thats a completely different illusion.
Its pretty obvious he uses stooges alot... stress ALOT. I wasnt impressed by any of the effects he did in the shows last night., this might sound harsh... but hey... tis my opinion

No offense, down2infinity - but look at it from a dramatic point of view. Would you really watch the show if they said:

"He's locked in a tube, then at about 8:55, a jet of bubbles will come up and he'll vanish and reappear on top of a truck across the parking lot".

They're just building tension. At no point did they use the word "impromptu" and, as a magician, you should really have been somewhat aware of what he was going to do to escape. They're just trying to get people to watch the show.

At the very least, he's actually performing an illusion. That's why I'm tired of the David Blaine stunts. He does these endurance tests, then falls out and gets carted away on a gurney (and if you don't think that's mostly for dramatic effect, I have a bridge to sell you). At least make the finale an actual finale, Dave!

ok, i dont wanna be misunderstood, no i dont expect them to explain exactly what is gonna happen, but i do expect it to be presented for what it is. it was a reasonable illusion, nothing special, nothing really new, but reasonable. Im sure they could drum up the same hype for the show while not disguising the effect for something its not ( to a certain extent, obviously they cant be completely honest about whats gonna happen ) I just feel cheated watching the show expecting one thing which would have been intresting to watch just to see something which has been done many a time has has frankly become boring. a real let down. sorry, cos I know you'l disagree with me lol.

On a final note ok they never used the word impromptu, but thats how it was put across. grab some random well known illusionist, would he try and get people to believe that? they are just as successful if not more so with out fake hype like that.

It was obvious the man and women holding up the paper to the glass in the walking through glass effect were stooges and so were the couple in the de ja vu trick. I'd really like to know how he did that water tank escape and that building walk
