Whatever you think about Mr Blaine success or failure, he is going to do very well. Ellusionist has a big Blaine promotion going on their site, so that was timed just right eh!

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!

Just had weekly email from Alakazam - they got a big Blaine promotion on as well - mmmmmm

Anyway - I wonder how much of it was real and how much was an illusion. Remember he got millions of dollars behind him, so creating complex props is well within his budget.

Personally, I was a big fan of his a few years ago, and then last year I started getting back into magic, and bought the healed and sealed soda can effect (as he had performed it)

To say I was shocked (and slightly disappointed) as to how simple this was, would be a understatment.

Just remember, he is an illusionist, and a good self promoter. And what we see on TV isnt always the true (shock! horror!)

As a dealer, I had pre-warnings from some of the top wholesalers to get in stock of Blaine items ready for this week's post-Blaine-immersion activity.

I've so far resisted temptation, as I feel that it's just a little bit capitalist (although I DO have Blaine's excellent 'split spades' online ;))

...i'd love to a failure with that much money...

...hey, he's an illusionist - houdini was a blatant self-promoter too...

i know i couldnt do what he attempted to do - i didnt see any of it myself (just news items), so the question is why wasnt the water a funny colour?

Or rather - how on earth did he have a tinkle and ahem the other number?

i dont like the guy, but I wouldnt call him a failure for this - as seige pointed out this is gonna get him soooo much more publicity and possibly credibility then succeeding would have. And here comes the cheesy bit, instead of failing - hes suceeded in learning what not to do next time.... i.e. spending x amount of days in a giant fish tank before trying to break a record lol.

I saw "My last Rolo" on there last year, so this doesn't sound daft at all.

I suspect this was part of the stage management. Man gets into Fishbowl, Man stands in Fishbowl, Man gets out of Fishbowl doesn't really cut it, he needed a big finish.

Did he failure or not?
First of all, let´s define failure....

fail·ure ( P ) Pronunciation Key (flyr)
n.
*The condition or fact of not achieving the desired end or ends: the failure of an experiment.
*One that fails: a failure at one's career.
*The condition or fact of being insufficient or falling short: a crop failure.
*A cessation of proper functioning or performance: a power failure.
*Nonperformance of what is requested or expected; omission: failure to report a change of address.
*The act or fact of failing to pass a course, test, or assignment.
*A decline in strength or effectiveness.
*The act or fact of becoming bankrupt or insolvent.

So, did he failure? OF COURSE.

Did he won a lot of money? YES.

Did he failure on porpuse? MAYBE. He can now do the show again (win again a lot of money), and prove himself a man. Or a magician or an entartainer or a navy seal or whatever he want´s to call himself.

As always, Mr. David "I would do anything to call attention" Blaine, is a boring marketing product. (My point of view).

Salute.

david blanes failure

Postby linda » May 11th, '06, 22:29

In my opinion he failed -he attempted to do a challenge and failed miserably.

And what was the point of the stunt which he failed to do - to increase his wealth and power -

I actually think his stunts are quite boring and cannot see how they relate to magic. -its more like self indulgence -

Perhaps he should get a "proper Job" insted of faffing around in a goldfish bowl failing to either entertain or beat records ....(Not that I have got anyhting against the man you understand...............................)
