Did anyone see it?

The lad's got mad skills, there's no doubt about that. All he perhaps needs now is to start thinking about their presentation - especialy the rather impressive thought reading schtick.

Yeh I saw it. There's some good technique there but that was about all. It did feel a little bit like he was just showing us some props he'd bought.

The great majority of his stuff was gimmicked, eg haunted deck, hummingbird, folding coin etc - and didn't perform many real sleight of hand tricks. It felt a little bit simple, as if he took the trick out of the box and headed straight out onto the streets!

I bumped into him in Davenports in Charing Cross a few months back, had no idea who he was until today. Never mind.[/i]

I saw about 20 mins before switching over to Chriss Angel's final three programmes. Dynamo certainly has some amazing technical skills but the overall impression seemed to be very amateur and not really the sort of thing which I'd choose to watch. As Mrs.M said, he seems far too young to be featuring in this sort of programme and it was surprising how he got into a Club with scantily clad women there to entertain the punters. He's a very likeable lad, not sure how useful it was to include the visit to his Gran as that sort of feature would normally be more effective once he was better known. Nothing wrong with it but it just seemed to be unnecessary padding. Dynamo and his mate with the camera working their way down to London was the way it was promoted but there was still something missing, some spark of entertainment, some air of professionalism. Just my opinion, of course!

Not as billed is probably the best description. Okay, he's young, gawky and mumbles, and spends too much on gaff decks, but then again, it's only us that know how he's doing these things, so we're not the target audience. It's for the people who don't know how he does it. Perhaps he'll go on to develop a silent style where the trick talks for itself.

I think the best bit is that if someone comes along and thinks they can do better or has a better angle to pitch, then the producers are calling for submissions for the next series. Better still, the weather's lovely, so just grab a mate with a camcorder, go into the local shopping precinct, walk up to the fittest girl you see and put the result up on YouTube...

Wey hey! Sounds like a plan! Does Heff still hold parties at the mansion, I wonder? Mind you, in a small town, where everyone's only a couple of degrees of separation apart, there's room for a killer hot reading act.

Personally, I've never had a problem with just pointing me face at whoever I want to talk to, opening me gob and letting words come out. It makes up for being shy

I saw him on some other program where he was doing some magic, naturaly, and I thought he lacked serious presentation skills. I would say that he hasno charisma at all, although I've not seen estate of mind.

I'm not just having a go at him for the sake of it, I just think that it's his background and 'hip hop style' that has got him in. It's not like David Blaine who has this mysterious persona; Dynamo has, IMO a boring persona (maybe even none at all!). He seems to rely entierly on the impact of the effect.

Again though, I've not seen Estate of Mind...

As for using gimmicks and things, well that's alright really, but I would hope for some more inventive magic on a tv program, although that's just probably because I'm 'into magic'. Yeah people will have never seen this kind of thing on the whole, so it's fair enough.

I did manage to catch it and although some of the stuff he did was well rehearsed and flawless I too wasn't too keen on his presentation.

Overall though it's still magic on TV and I enjoyed most (but not all) of the effects.

I have just one question (being a bit lacking in overall magic knowledge) the coin in bottle thing.. looked good and stunned those that he did it to but what trick was it and if someone knows if you can use a borrowed (ungimmicked bottle) then please let me know as I've been looking for coin in bottle for ages and this looks like it might just fit the bill if the bottle was ungimmicked (I want to be able to use any bottle).

If not could anyone suggest anything.

i saw it last night but i thought it was a waste of time.

he preformed simple tricks which to a magician could be easily spotted

did anyone see his little ACR?
it was exactly the same as Daryls, right down to to finale.
and he was holding massive breaks at the front of the deck, even my girlfriend was pointing it out!

In fairness, he was out to blag some free stuff by showing laymen some tricks, not impress magicians

i like the "how much is it to get in? fifteen quid? how about if i impress you can i come in for free?" changes dudes fiver in a twenty and hands it back and walks in. and I'm thinking "hang, all he's done is actually pay to get in, what was all that about? just a bill switch?"

I noticed that too... somewhat unimpressive...

His ACR was pretty bad too. That break was so ridiculously visible.

Yeah. I wouldn't have to shoot myself if my ACR was that bad... my specs would do it for me!

Although the finale was pretty impressive I didn't really enjoy his ACR at all.

Or much of anything he was doing really
