Guys,
I need some help or advice on the production of the 4 aces.Over the last week or so I have been working hard on perfecting Dr Daleys last trick.
My only problem is that I dont really have a good way of producing the ace's in the first place.
I did run a search and did not find any helpful information.
I have learnt the technique where using pinky b****s the middle part of the deck is pushed out four times each time producing and an ACE. I also know the trick in the RRTCM , the trouble is I just dont like either of those enough to use them. I have spent a fortune lately on DVD's so please don't recomend a DVD just some gentle advice whould be great.

Okay, I'm guessing that you don't want any kind of suggestions and just tips...however, I really do recommend the E-Book The Card Addict by Peter Duffie; the first effect listed, Kick-Start Aces, really is brilliant and one of the best 'Spectator Finds the Aces' that I have seen. None of this transferring cards or anything like that, just a brilliantly structured and logical routine, so that might be one you might want to look in to.

Sounds as if your are looking for secrets and methods, though I may be wrong. If so, it's not TM policy to reveal them as this is an open forum I am afraid. If you can though, I really do recommend the above E-Book. I think that it provides a nice kind of balance almost if THEY find the Aces and then YOU do some magic with them.

I know many ace productions that are available through doing flourishes. Basically, ace productions can be made using any 2 handed multiple cuts. I use Dan and Dave's "Real Time" production in my Asher Twist performance.

Dan and Dave's System teaches several ace productions including Real Time, Apparation Aces, Molecule production, and many more table productions.

I believe Lee Asher's "Hit the Road" teaches the Tornado Production by Ashford Kneital.

Edit: Sorry, just read that you don't want DVDs. Well, think of any multiple cuts you know and maybe turn an ace over somewhere in the deck and the other aces somehwere near and find a way of producing it. Sorry I can't explain ace productions as they are in essence a magic effect.

I am merly after some general advice and your mention of the ebook may just be the ticket.
Without giving too much away could you tell me a liitle more about the effect on the ebook.
I am not after the method just how the effect plays out to the spec.

Ah right fair enough, I just assumed that if you didn't want DVDs you didn't want anything else, which left only one explanation...but not so!

The effect, in a little more detail, is as follows: with the deck spread face-down between your hands a 'magic locator card' (basically an indifferent one) is chosen and two cards are touched in the deck, which you upjog. Removing these you flip them over to show that they are the two red Aces! This really is very direct, there's no funny business to your audience whatsoever.

These two Aces are set aside and the 'magic locator card' is taken by the spectator and placed anywhere in the deck. Running through the cards face-up it is seen that they have placed the indifferent card smack right between the two black Aces.

It really is very direct, and the effect I am using to preceed Bannon's handling of Dr Daley's Last Trick (which I would then follow up with his 'Beyond Fabulous').

If you do get it (or if anyone else has it) and wishes to hear my alternative handling, PM me with proof that you own this and I'd be happy to tell you it.

I like Jay Sankeys Ultimate Aces from 22 Blows to the Head! Maybe its just because he does the trick to the theme tune of hawaii 5-0!!

Father Cyprian has a nice Ace Production in The Elegant Card Magic of Father Cyprian. Why not just palm out, have the spec. shuffle them and then produce them

another good one is mercury if you want to open the routine and have the four aces

Dunno if this is up your alley but I've been using an initial four aces trick as a reason for having the aces. Its actually my opening routine for impromptu card magic (i.e. when someone says "Show me a trick" and I have nothing prepared, just a regular deck).

Yes I have posted this video before...it was posted in the filesharing section here: My Opening Rountine. However I felt it was relevant to this discussion so I thought I'd post it again. Sorry for the confusion.

Don't feel too bad...if you follow the link above you will see that I've already mentioned my difficulties with the trick when I learnt it. I still don't always feel confident with the count in front of a speccie, so I only do it when I feel like it. As I also mentioned that the count makes no difference, in my opinion, for lay people regarding reactions to the trick. When you count them i think their immediate thought is "of course he has 4 cards...why wouldn't he?"

If you understand the general method you'll realise that Departure Time is VERY easy to perform and the little "nuances" are for you to add when you're comfortable with them. Other than that, I reckon a complete novice could convicingly perform this trick to a layperson within an hour of learning it.
