Personally I don't like the grip master because it works the muscles in one part of the hand only. Cos I have been teaching people guitar for a few years it means I have worked out what is good for hands and what isn't so good. most grippy things only use muscles working in one direction - to my mind gripmaster has the same problem (just my opinion mind, but having tried it its a bit one dimensional).
Allens suggestions are really good, the powerballs link i give in the other forum build on those exercises and add a kind of 'weight' due to the gyroscope inside them. Allens method should be tried!
I was fiddling with a pack of cards today and I think that a good alternative is to use a pack of cards, held tightly in the palm - fingers and thumbs around the top and bottom. Spring the pack inwards slowly, hold for 5 seconds and release it slowly. Do that a few times. If you repeat it with the wrist in different positions you will work the various parts of the hand.
I also think that learning a few flourishes (check out earlier decknique link) is a great way of improving dexterity and hand power.
