Try "Sinful" Coin in a Can trick. If peformed well it never fails to impress. :)

No gimmicks needed as well. And no difficult sleights.

Sinful isn't something that you really carry around.

You can take an unopened can of beverage (coke, is my prefference) from anyone who happens to have one.

Trust Dark-Strider on this one, it gets a great reaction after maybe 15 minutes of practice.

As for punctures being a one time job, it really depends on the puncture that you do, what you use.

It might not be the best advice, but watch some of the demo videos on the sites. If you like the trick, chances are that other people will like it as well.

Here's my motto: Simple is Better.

Revolution is an awesome effect too.

OK, please, before anyone has a chance to jump down my throat.
Let me explain.

I hate carrying things with me.

In my pockets are: Cigarettes, Lighter, 2 quarters, wallet, keys, and a deck of blue bikes.

I HATE GIMMICKED STUFF!

Do you understand the frustration?!?!

I don't want an Ace of Spades that's a Duece of Diamonds on the back!

I know that some gimmicked stuff isn't "easy" to pull off, but come on!

If it absolutely positively CAN NOT be done without a gimmick, so be it.

BUT! If the same effect can be produced by a double undercut, don't sell me gimmicked cards!

I don't want a fake quarter! I don't want a gimmicked deck!

Show me something that takes REAL SKILL, REAL PRACTICE!

If little Johny can log on and buy a pk ring and do a better version of my Revolution, then something is seriously wrong with the way that magic is heading.

I really believe that magic should be a thing that gives you what you give to it. Why should I spend hours (or days) to learn an effect, when a gimmick can do the same thing with 5 minutes of practice?

Please someone agree with me.

Yes, very nice thread.

Ok, sorry about my little gimmick rant...

Don't "HATE" them, but I've had some horrid problems with them before.

I really find it frustrating knowing that a spec would just love this effect, but, darn it all, I don't have my gimmick/gaff.... blah blah...

Yes, gimmicked tricks can WOW a spec, I just like truly impromtu magic..

On that part, I TOTALLY agree.

I have had countless times where I'm getting ready to go somewhere I know I will perform. I have my library of packet tricks and such - and I pore through them all.

"That's a great trick"

"so and so will LOVE that one!"

"Killer! Have to bring it!"

Before I know it, I've pulled out 8-10 effects. I too have moved away from gimmicks and gaff packet effects. I still buy tons of them, but I usually just play around with them for my own enjoyment, now.

With age has brought practicality, and an unwillingness to walk around with 45 lbs. of magic gear in my pants.

Yeah, gimmicks can be cool, no doubt, and I give my respect to all the people who can use them effectively.

But damnit, I'm still having some trouble with Sinful....

Anyone who has it, I have a real problem. Send me a message (mod prefered) if you own the dvd and can help, cause I am getting really frustrated.

And it's so easy too........ I hate me sometimes.
