Looking for effects for an audience size of between 30 and 150. Have some props and effects, just looking for some nice pieces and horrific props to theme the area. I don't need huge things. As i don't intend to start until October the budget will increase.
The shows:
1. Cabaret horror 2. Close-up to scare (i have some Black Hart and need some more ideas).
Look around, one of the more novel and fun gags I used in clubs for a while was on old Thayer prop known as the Arm Amputator... it's a 10" Buzz Saw that cuts through a specator's arm. I had two of them at one time, one with blood squirters and the other I modified for a comedy gag you might appreciate...
We did a thing about Hypnosis and then demonstrated the classic Chemistry bit of dipping a rose into Liquid Nitrogen and of course, shattering the rose. We followed this with proof that blisters could be formed on our victim's arm by making them believe a pencil eraser was a red hot ember, etc.
Then we dumped the "liquid nitrogen" over the arm, telling our helper that it was only warm water... long story short, as I sat the beaker of nitrogen to the side, I accidently bumped the table onto which our victim's arm was strapped ... yes, the center section of the arm snapped free, rolled off the table and shattered all over the stage floor.
The table used is very clever and you really can use anyone from teh audience. You can even have people holding onto the hand and bicep areas so as to prove everything is in fact "real".
I would likewise recommend looking into a Spirit Cabinet or "Seance" styled demonstration. Given the feel I get from your description I'd recommend looking over Docc Hilford's
BAND OF THE HAND notes... I know Blackhart has some great Jack the Ripper stuff and what Docc reveals in this booklet may just give you a more solid sense of foundation.
Hope these thoughts get your creativity to flowing
