Mainly the latter. No money at all, and living in fear of the credit card bill.

I'm trying to think of a reference that won't require any money to be spent...
There's two types of wand spin I'm trying to learn, firstly the drummers' spin, which should be easy to find references for - essentially the wand makes one full revolution around the thumb. The exact technique probably isn't very important as long as it's done smoothly and naturally. It feels impossible at first, but a bit of work seems to make it glide around the thumb (and then sometimes fly off at a wierd tangent

) Any flourishes website should be able to give you a basic guide, although you'll probably find a longer wand with a bit of weight to it will be easier to use.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pen_twirling . Plus a weightier wand flying off at random angles tends to make people respect the space your magic practice requires
The second, which is slightly more esoteric is the Vernon wand spin, which can be used for a very clever vanish, and looks as though it needs to be followed more exactly due to the nature of the vanish. Best do a google to find material that teaches this, as I'm not aware of any free resources, and don't want to lead a brother astray in this thread...
You're most likely to find a guide to this in material that teaches Vernon's cups and balls routine.
hehe, when I have these working okay in both hands I'll be happy
