These people are full of c**p they stopped the clock when he was still in there they shouldn’t of stopped it until he was actually out all together. so in fact if you time it from when they stopped it until he actually comes out he was in there for 18/19 seconds longer which is a lot. when you start to see the air bubbles that’s when they should of jumped in to get him out but they messed around for almost 10 seconds before they actually got him out he could of died because they were way to slow.

But didn't he say that he would rather be carried out in a body bag than leave early? Blaine has this wierd death wish that I kind of understand. The best thing he could do would be to die performing one of these stunts, but of course at the same time he wants to live to see the result... interesting eh?

watched this trick last night, looked effective.
i previously thought it involved the camera, for which i would have figured out at least one pretty ballsy way to do it. i guess i just inadvertantly invented a trick instead....my bad ;)

FEATURED BY DAVID BLAINE ON DROWNED ALIVE

Cause any prediction to appear on a stranger’s cell phone.

Doug McKenzie is the street-smart pro that gave you the indescribably wonderful “Juan Hundred Dollar Bill Switch.” He’s unlocked the vault once again to let loose another one of his hardcore thrillers: Phoneomenon.

Here’s the effect as recently featured on two different TV specials:

A random stranger in the crowd is focused on remembering a card when suddenly her cell phone rings. She takes her phone out of her pocket to check who’s calling only to see the name of her card staring her in the face.

Phoneomenon is the result of Doug McKenzie’s life long fascination with cell phones and how to secretly load them with information. He includes all the street smarts and technical tricks needed to transform any cell phone into a heart-stopping Phoneomenon.

Includes a wide variety of methods to suit different performing situations.

No gimmicks or special devices required.

Multiple presentational ideas described in detail.

Features a system that gives you instant access to almost any modern cell phone.

Note: Phoneomenon is a situational effect that may require audience management skills.

Price: £23.99

Phoneomenon does look very interesting doesn't it. It was the best trick on the show if you ask me...

the rest of the shows were on itv4 afterwards, it does say this in mandrake's quote but i didnt notice it was on the other channel first time i read it. they showed magicman instead of buried alive though.

ok, so blaine didnt break the world record for longest without breath and I've seen him slated numerous times for this, however, he made it to over 7 minutes which to be honest ain't that bad and without the extra muscular effort of escapology thrown in at 5 minutes he could well have made it. his brain must've been doing backflips by then.
I go both scuba and free diving as often as I can and trying to do anything strenous once the brain starts swimming (*ahem*) can be difficult as the mind gets so confused and cannot concentrate well at all when under this much pressure. even trying to find air in a flooded cave after only 1-2 minutes under can seem the most difficult trick you've ever tried....trust me on this, "hmmmm, i could be in a bag within minutes" is a distracting thought to have.

Also, in training he must have set a record not even in guinness yet.....hold breath for 5 minutes, breathe for 1, hold for 6, breathe for 1. This way, he held his breath for 48 minutes in an hour thus only breathing for 12 minutes out of 60. If anyone here can do that I would glad go put my hat on just so i could take it off again to you Smile

I'm not the biggest fan of blaine, but credit where credit's due. some great card effects and extreme human endurance to boot.
I'm even starting to see the quiet manner he has more as disarming than looking like he can't really be bothered.

was this the exact same show they had on abc which was live then? because they showed the outcome at the beginning and I wonder how they could have done that if it was live (not on itv1 but when it was shown on abc)

Also what was going on with him and the two women in the cafe when the camera was shooting from outside? it looked like he appeared to be pulling some food through his cheek or something.

I didn't see the shrinking pinky trick on there but I thought the cell phone trick was cool

He ripped his mouth off in the cafe and then got told to leave by the manager :D That was hilarous. You saw him talking to the women at first then he pulled his lips off, the girls freaked out and run somewhere in the shop. David kept mumbling and eventually he had to leave. Was that manager guy stupid? Was he not honoured to have David Blaine pull his own mouth off in HIS cafe?

I believe he has broken a world record no one has ever spent 7 days under water without coming up and then going for over 7 minutes. This is the first so as far as I know he has broken a world record in his own rights
