The cafe owner was probably in on it. Just to add some drama. I was very disappointed with the whole show and found it boring (and yes i am a Blaine fan).

I taped it so I'll watch that bit again on the tape but wondered why they filmed it from outside and not inside maybe they thought it would give too much away. Also when he pulled out the womans tooth wondered why she didn't scream in pain

I think she was an actress. Would you let someone just poke their fingers in your mouth?!

Watched the whole show and did`nt think much.....there could have been more tricks....IMO

The tricks were abit hit or miss and most missed ....IMO again.

David blaine is one of the reason i rekinddled my interest in magic.

I was into magic as an 8 year old with paul daniels magic sets....but lost interest as i discovered girls....

When mr blaine started doing the coin bite and floating a leaf....i thought wow this is cool....and started to get an interest again.

So i am a fan of blaine .....but feel he has lost the magic he once had.

Obviously. But if I genuinely thought someone had just pulled my teeth out, no matter whether they were saying 'Trust me' or not. They would be sporting a black eye and doubled over in pain whilst I hysterically swore at them.

Blaine isn't interested in what other magicians think of him or his stunts. Judging by the press coverage the majority of his following, and those who become interested in the stunt rather than Blain himself, are lay people and it's to this audience that Blaine projects himself. I'll also add that he does this successfully too and will no doubt have raked in a few million Dollars.

Mrs dat asked why he did these stunts after watching him being dragged out of the water in a poor state of health. My rather cynical response was "the money of course".

He sure knows how to play to a crowd and personally, I'm not sure if he knew that he couldn't make 9 minutes. If the record was that important then why not attempt it at the start when your energy is high and why on earth change your plan at the last minute and add all of those chains. I rather suspect that the answer is simply show business.

Nice touch being wheeled a few hundred yards through the crowds to the nearest ambulance.

Overall, I didn't expect too much from the show so I wasn't that disapointed. I watched more for the shoe lace trick than for the underwarter knife fighting and I'm not too sure about that either.

Seven minutes holding your breath is good going by anyone's standard, 70+ hours under water is also a mean feat of endurance whether you're a Blaine fan or not. A few million Dollars - His bank manager was most probably in the front row.

I wonder how many times Mr Blaine has been driven away in an ambulance?

Do you mean his own brand 'split spades'? if so, Seige has these at www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk

I have always said I liked his magic, but hated his stunts.

However, I have now more respect for these, after he explained why he did them.

Part of what he said was about being a performer and entertaining aswell as pushing the boundarys.

I might not think it is entertaining, but did I watch the show?

Yes.

Did others watch it that had already decided it was going to be boring?

Yes.

Was a large part of the viewers watching because they thought it WAS going to be entertaining?

Yes.

People ARE interested in firsts, whether it is being frozen in ice in America, or almost being frozen to death crossing the Antartic hopping on 1 leg, singing the National Anthem of Bolivia.

Look at any magic forum, see how much reaction and posts he gets.

I might or might not like some of his stunts, but can YOU get millions to watch you standing under water for 7 days?
