Alcohol wipes will get fake tattoos off very quickly.

As for melting a coin in water... chocolate coins melt well in boiling water

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.

If you can find out what the coating on silver icing balls is you could use that as I'm pretty sure it disolves in water.

If you want to make a convincing 'coin' then it will need to be painted or somehow coloured to look like the real thing and that might be difficult to disguise in water after the coin has dissolved. Ages ago I saw a TV programme about film effects and the one parts showed how they create a set of medals worn by a character but which had to boil away and dissolve on his chest. All they did was to use food colouring on Alka-Seltzer tablets and when sprayed with water, they bubbled and dissolved away very effectively!

following on from the past couple of posts, have you considered using dice instead? then you could switch them for sugar-cubed ones?...

in fact, im going to try it out over the weekend, i like the little haunted dice technique, it'll be a nice switch and you'd definately finish clean if you popped the ice cube dice into someone's tea...
