Oooh that's good! Must cost a fortune to reconstruct but it's a very entertaining routine.

It's not new and is on his Illusions DVD.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

O I have this dvd
this is my favorite trick on it
let me ask you something
when the people disapered now they know the secret of the trick
so how do they make sure that they won't expose it ?

Some free tickets? - There has to be an incentive there somewhere.

For me, the best feature on the DVD was his Flying routine. A true lesson in presentation of a large scale effect

As soon as I saw them "disappear", my immediate thoughts were they were in on it
If not, then like you say, they now know the secret and I can't see David Copperfield allowing 3 "random" people to have access to this kinda knowledge that they could quite easily pass onto others

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Good point there moonbeam, particularly as this show ran three times each day, 7 days per week on Broadway

That's exactly what i thought. Which makes the jacket part a bit less impressive. If you think/know the spectator is no spectator but a member of the team, the jacket is just a gimick.
While the routine is very well put together, i just don't think of this as one of his best.

For me the flying illusion is still the best.

I was just going to point that out. He didn't even reach for his arm. He went right for the leg and in the instant, Copperfield came back with a witty remark. So...Seems set up.

Thanks for posting that Bundy, that was a real treat (I actually watched it twice)! The only problem with this trick is that it's not an anytime anywhere effect. But then again if you just carry a TT around with you then you should be able to perform most of it :D.

Copperfield doesn't really do walk around magic. He does mostly stage and stunts.

The system involved is actually a series of different "tricks" set into a single effect a.k.a. The Spirit Cabinet, the real kicker of course being Reveen's SPACE GHOST bit... it's an awesome bit of magic to experince if you ever get the chance. When he was at the Hacenda in Vegas Lance Burton opened with a version of the ghost flight routine that resulted in his slow motion appearance on stage... it was piss-elegant!

When it comes to this kind of routine however, I think David's Spirit Table is far superior... it is one of the few bits he's done over the years that I'd really like to have.

BTW... my new book "The Compiled Psychic Technologies" will have the plans and workings of a very simple, amazingly deceptive Spirit Cabinet in it for those interested. We were hoping to have the book out in early July but it's looking more like August at this point.

A haunted hoor hoose, how interesting.

I was a bit disapointed at the end when ol' plastic head said that we could still hear the voices of the departed workers of said establishment.

All I heard was a load of gothic types shrieking when it should have been "5 dollars big boy and no kissy kissy".
