Favourite Trick

It's got to be MONTY THE SPIV.
No trick I have done over the last 45 years has come close. It seems to have a wow factor with audiences far beyond its difficulty as a trick. You can make it as difficult as you like by introducing false cuts and shuffles [as in SAM THE BELL HOP] or you can do it without and your audience will still be entertained and mistified.
I have re-worked it to bring it up to date and make it a little more PC but it's basically the same.
SAM THE BELL HOP is great too but I find the patter doesn't suit a UK audience as well as MONTY.

Either Stigmata or this Do As I Do effect whose name I do not know. It's the one you download free from Ellusionist.

Both effects are impromptu and deliver fantastic outcomes, Stigmata being the biggest reaction-grabber I own. I can't count the number of times my friend has asked me to do that trick either to him again or for someone else. He won't shut up about it. 8)

If I'm ever given a deck and asked to do a trick I also like to do Twins.
With the four cards left I then follow it up with double-back (same handling - not gimmicked of course).
Nice quick routine, that does impress the audience. The two stages allow you to get a handling of the deck in the first segment and then bring out the sleights in the later.

i think Twins does blow people away and its pretty much self working!! I also beleive that Dr Daleys Last Trick is a simple trick with great reactions. I also like the Biddle Trick!

I wanna start performing coin unique (£1 and 1p) anyone have any good reactions with it or guide me somewhere where i can get some performance tips?

Mine would have to be The Voodo Fly Resurection as done by david blane - I used it alot in Hostels in OZ when i was backpacking Reason its my Favourite is simply the reaction from spectators.

Coin Unique

Postby Trickyfied » Jul 15th, '07, 22:19

Coin unique or stigmata...mmmmm Well as I allways carry my coin unique around with me and have a million routines for it and use it every day it has to come on top, simple to use but can cause great reactions. I own two 'coin uniques' and almost everyday have at least one heart attack when I think I've spent it only to find it in the 'wrong' pocket!
Stigmata is a favourite of mine as people have no explanaition as to what they have seen happen, with their finger marks forming a number or letter on my arm. Excellent trick worth every penny.

Hard to pick one, so if i can pick a few:

Phill II - love the audience reaction and clean up the finale with a vanishing deck.

2 cards in pocket - may have the name wrong but love this Osterlind effect, it actually still makes me feel shakey when I peform it.

Thought Transmittor - this routine floors them. Can't say much more.

Do as I Do, Gray's Spelling Trick, Two Card Monte effects, Ambitious Card, Poker Player's Picknick (doing double lifts on the packets to show cards that arent aces before the spec turns over cards)..

Yea, i keep it real, no set-up decks for me...

The Indian Rope Trick

Postby Amanda Angeli » Jul 17th, '07, 20:13

Hello All,

I'd have to say that my favorite Illusion is the Indian Rope Trick or as I prefer its name, the Chinese Rope Trick. You all know the one, where the rope is tossed into the air, someone climbs it, and disappears at the top.

I love this Illusion for many reasons. First, most people nowadays think it never was done and can't be done and that it is merely a myth. And that is what tickles me so as an Illusionist. If something is impossible, oh how it draws me with passion to figure it out.

I also love the history of this Illusion and it truly has a fascinating and very complicated story behind it and just what it is or might have been. No other trick or Illusion is as mysterious, and thus, to me, this is the one that steals my heart.

Can it be done? It never has, by anybody. But I believe it can. Did it ever exist? Possibly not. But that does not mean that it might.

Love,

Amanda Angeli

I remember hearing about a £1,000,000 offer to anybody who can do it in open ground , cant remeber who issued the challenge

but just imagine if somebody could pull it off

that would be REAL magic

Lots of Pounds

Hello Melenko,

but just imagine if somebody could pull it off

Just imagine indeed. That would be so exciting. Of course, such an Illusion should not be done for the money but instead, for the art.

Love,

Amanda Angeli
