What is your favourite trick and why ?

Postby shaneking » Apr 21st, '07, 20:46

I thought this would enable everyone to name their favourite trick and explain why (not the secret, obviously). Who knows, it might jog our memories and think "yes, that is a marvellous trick, I must use that again as I had let that trick slip".

Mine is the Brainwave deck (possibly Heirloom as a joint favourite)

"Further than that" in the back of Mark Wilson's CCM.

Mine is the ridiculously simple - Twins from the "13" DVD. No sleights and it can't go wrong. I use it quite a bit and it's always a good one.

That's a good one. It's a great example of how an extremely simple trick can be mind-blowing to an audience.

As I've said before, one of my all-time favorites is Bobo's Higher Mentality.

Reasons:

Uses 5 spectators
completely impromptu
no forces/peeks/duplicates (you never even have to look at the faces of the cards)
no sleights involved

As for Utility item - I never leave home without my Outlaw Wallet. You can work an entire routine with just that wonderful gem and a few business cards.

My personl favorite at the moment when performing is Lennart Green's Stolen Deck.

This deck comes with some marvelous patter which along with the deck itself just can't fail to hold the specs interest. With the current interest in Poker it's a winner all of the time. Whilst it's almost self working the outcome seems impossible to the specs and it seems to drive them nuts trying to think about it.

I have three of these decks which I rotate when working so the the pairs and face cards are different.

I just love this deck.

Good value for money too :)

The ID is great and provokes a strong reaction.
I like doing Three Cards Across, when the setting is right and although it's pretty basic, I enjoy performing the BIP book as it leaves a lot os scope for presentation and drama.
Presenting 'Pass At Red' as a suggestion effect is also very strong.

At the moment i am getting loads out of Feel by Peter Nardi it is so simple and you can work in with some other stuff and you jazz it up with some "ok look at me i want you to see the object in your mind that you are holding , ok you eyes moved to the left there that indicates you are holding something cold" but the methood is so easy very good as impromtu and paid gigs.

Also single handed Geller by Marc spellman a nice simple coin bend. Why i like it is because its a coin bend.

And Lost in shadow by Looch from his S.A.D simple to do and people think you are a master of suggestion.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Two Card Monte or some very simple two card transposition. You can't go wrong with simple magic.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

The more I think about it, the more I think it's whichever trick gets the best reaction when you personally perform it.
