But a magic Ding Dong, which is a sponge balls routine that ends with the production of a large sponge penis.

Perhaps you'd be better going down the gambling/poker cheat/card sharp route for a strip club booking? That might go down better with the punters than pulling out a sponge penis and going "Ooh-er missus!"

I'd do something self working, as my concentration would be elsewhere!

Surely a "burlesque" magic act should be a bit more classy than sponge penises and stiff ropes? It makes Carry On Up The Khyber look positively sophisticated.

The MagicWand is right!

Burlesque is considered an art form in it's own right by those that follow it and it's considered a big step up from simply stripping. If you Google then you'll get a general idea.

I also think that there will be an expectation of class and with the routine you could make a big impact. I'm not sure that magic and burlesque has been done before.

I worked as a table-hopping palm reader at a Burlesque evening once. The acts themselves were very classy, a bit naughty, but hugely professional. A magic act would fit in well amongst the dancing girls, songbirds, and enchantresses. However IMHO a sponge penis would lead ultimately to disappointment.

However if this strip club is just a strip club, then maybe you can get away with a kind of smutty magic. But (again IMHO) the people who have paid to get into a normal strip club don't want nudge-nudge wink wink type acts. There are naked women on stage for goodness sakes! Why would they be remotely amused by school boy type innuendo? What may hold the average punters attention though is a "that's why you shouldn't play cards with strangers" kind of approach that will appeal to your average lad out on the beer at a strip joint.

IMHO a Burlesque evening would be a wonderful place to perform classy magic. A strip joint would be an awful place to perform magic - keep it simple, avoid saying things like "look at the size of my wand lads!", and get off stage as soon as you can. And don't leave without getting paid.

Hope I don't sound like too much of a grouch. It's just that I've worked in some god awful dives in my time and I'd hate you to fall into any pot-holes that still contain impressions of my face.
