Damn... I don't think I can make it this year. Heading off to uni (hopefully) and I don't know my situation yet.

It's such a disappointment because I want to see Juliana Chen's performances and ask her some questions.. :(

I have just had it confirmed that Chris Power will be lecturing and performing at the convention this year.

I won't be able to update the website for a few days as he is still on his way back from America at the moment and he has promised to send me some photo's.

I am really excited about this. He may not be as a commercial DVD producing household name as some, but anyone who has seen him perform will tell you he is one of the best out there.

Chris Power is considered by many to be one of the finest sleight of hand magicians performing today.

He has an international reputation as a magician and has worked all over the world, both live and on television, including seasons at the prestigious Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood. His combination of dry humour and magic expertise have earned him many awards including the coveted Close-up Magician of the Year from The Magic Circle in London and he is a winner of the highly regarded International Magic Close-up Award.

His exclusive one man show, for small intimate audiences, is a unique way to see close-up magic at its best.

oh - and Zack - I reckon he would give Paul Harris a run for his money in the close-up creativity stakes.

Hi Sly.

The website is pretty much up to date. http://www.ipswichmagicalsociety.co.uk/eveconv2007.htm

If you arrive at 12 the only thing you will miss is Dave Allen's lecture on kids magic and a chance to meet up with friends and buy tons of magic from dealers...

at midday we have the Juliana Chen lecture.
The close up session starts at 14:15 (Just wait til you see Chris Power, not to mention Matt Dowden and Michael J. Fitch)

Chris Power lectures at 16:00

And then of course there is the gala show that starts at 7:30pm. The line up this year is very strong. If you have never seen Graham P. Jolley before then you are in for a real treat.

Incidentally there is an article on Juliana Chen and Graham Jolley is the latest issue of Magicseen magazine.

IMS Convention

Postby roblane » Sep 4th, '07, 22:15

Cool, really enjoyed last year. Sounds like this year could be even better! Certainly bigger, ( not a lot of people know that!)
If it's not sold out yet can I send you a cheque with an SAE or is it safer to speak to you first?

Hi Rob. There are still spaces available. It will be good to see you there.

One day I still hope to entice you to a few society meetings.

For all those that have already booked tickets for the convention. Thank you for supporting the event. It will be good to see you all there.

I won't be sending tickets out for another week or so though, so please don't panic. I am still waiting for the Gala show tickets and Parking tickets to be sent to me before I can send out your registration packages.

Simon

I spoke to Owen Packard at the weekend and Big Blind Media will now have a dealer table at the convention, with David Forrest (CTW, Trickery etc) and hopefully Iain Moran (Cullfather, Covert Magic) demoing on the stand.
