Still waiting for my copy to arrive :(
I ordered it on December 20th, and since I am in the US, I expect it will arrive some time next week.

Was waiting for my rent to be taken before ordering this but figured that if it doesnt I can just hypnotise my landlord into not charging me

Ordered after hours today so wondering when my copy will arrive.
I already do a lot of hypnosis stuff but everyone has said such good things about this book that I'm sure it will be more than worth the money!

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Hi All

RiP is awesome - after buying it I did some training with Anthony and his dad Freddy Jacquin, which was also awesome.

Here is the review that I wrote for my NLP website:

'Reality is Plastic' is essentially a book about entertaining with hypnosis in impromptu settings.

When this first arrived and I removed it from the Jiffy bag I was a little dissapointed - it seemed a little light at only 100 pages and for me had a distinct 'homemade' (spiral bound) feel. I was cheered a little when I opened it to find an unexpected DVD rom.

HOWEVER I was deeply cheered when I actually read it - this little book is fantastic and I believe deserves a top rating. Heres why:

It teaches direct impromptu hypnosis in a way that is thorough, complete, and very simple to understand and put into practice. The book and the approach are simple, yet rich with subtle details that really get things moving quickly. It teaches clear sequencing and good protocol and is written in such a way as to instill confidence in what could come across as quite a daunting activity (performing impromptu hypnosis).

I bought this book as I come from an 'Ericksonian'/NLP based 'indirect' Hypnosis background and was looking to expand my range by integrating some more 'direct' methods into my work. This book has given me much of what I was looking for. The CD Rom is an excellent additional resource as it shows all of the techniques outlined in the book on mpg video format. This addition makes the whole package into a wonderful learning resource that I have referenced again and again.

The biggest bonus for me is that 'Reality is Plastic' has provided me with a format through which to demonstrate hypnosis 'on the fly' and in an intelligent and entertaining way outside of structured client sessions. This is of immense value as a promotional tool for my changework services!

To sum up - This book is simple, well written and I have learned a hell of a lot from it. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in improving their hypnotic skills whether from a therapeutic or entertainment perspective.

All the very best

James

This is a great thread brimming full with positive reviews,I was just wondering if the info in this book is similar to the new encyclopedia of stage hypnosis - Ormand Mcgill ? In Ormands book he covers 101 ways to hypnotise using a miraid of inductions - Does anybody have both these books and would fill in the gaps for me - thanks

Hi,

McGills book was the first one I had. I would not suggest for a second that mine fills gaps in his work because if you look at his everything you could ever want to know with regard to stage hypnosis is there - and it can of course be applied to other environments. It is an incredible piece of work.

However many people I know have found the encyclopedia to be a little overwhelming and not the best book to get them started. I found this myself as well. Once someone had trimmed away the fat and shown me how easy it is to hypnotize then I found I got a lot more value from revisiting his encyclopedia.

So in short I think RIP is more likely to get someone actually hypnotizing. It is geared toward 'off' stage hypnosis and therefore a good fit for performers other than stage hypnotists.

I'm loving the book! And I got so close to full induction with my dad. Again, with him, I tried the Stiff Arm set piece with the instant induction. With the stiff arm he was EXTREMELY receptive, which made me happy... I knew the full induction was going to work. So I reached over to shove his arm downward and... well, he must have been really into it because his arm wouldn't budge! And I pushed it HARD. So close!

LOL. That must have been a shock for you. My advice is to tell him that when you touch his arm it will become loose and limp and just drop down to his side and he will go into deep sleep. That way you have created the moment for the induction.

Keep it up.

Ant

PS Thanks for posting that review James :)

Order this well after hours on the 1st. Phone call from my brother at work today to say I had a book arrived.
I could only assume it was this book - and it was.

Opening the jiffy bag I found the delicious looking book and receipt (having received an email from Anthony personally just yesterday).

Yummy!

Had a quick flick through, not had chance to read it properly yet - but loving it so far. Already done the stiff arm jobber on the missus - which worked beautifully!

I might have to leave you all for a bit whilst I go and read the book and come back and write a real review.

It didn't take long.
I finished it.
It was good.

But I feel it deserves a 100% honest review.

So here it is...

Reality is Plastic! The art of Impromptu Hypnotism by Anthony Jacquin

There are 21 pages to this thread. So first off, kudos to Anthony for writing something so popular!
So, the book then...

As someone who has been doing hypnotism for some time, this was an interesting book. I'm not sure how much of the content I didn't already know but it certainly helped with my confidence.
It was also nice to read about hypnotism from a therapy-related background (most of my reading material prior to this book were people who wrote it for stage hypnotism meaning they don't care how it works, just that they can embarass people with it) but using the tools as a means of entertainment too.

A couple of the techniques in there (the stiff arm for example) I didn't know but it was nice to again read someone elses point of view on what I did know - in magical terms it was like being taught a new handling of a classic trick.

If you've never done hypnotism before, this is a perfect starting place - nothing is so complex that you wont be able to understand and the lessons learnt here are valuable whatever level you are.
Certainly I've taken a lot from even a single read and now feel more ready to go out and start hypnotising people off the cuff.
Already, I feel that I've rid myself of the horrible idea of explaining I was a hypnotist and then spending weeks priming myself before hypnotising someone.

In the next 7 days I shall aim to hypnotise 7 people. I'll let you know how that goes but in the mean time... if you'd like to learn how to hypnotise people then buy this book.

If you're interested in the techniques and theoretical knowledge then buy this book.

And if like me, you know how to hypnotise people but couldn't call what you do "impromptu hypnosis" by any means then buy this book.

Nuts to it, you don't need a reason, it's that damn good.
Just buy it!

Jacquin, just to let you know, it is me (Lenoir) that just purchased it, but due to a silly internet problem I cannot email you back! Hopefully you read this and realise
