I much prefer the Hitchiker's Guide theory that once we discover the true meaning of everything, the Universe will disappear and be replaced by something far worse. The other theory is that this has already happened.....

I've PMed it to you. A recipe thread sounds like a great idea, we might have to get that started. :D

This has got to be quickly turning into one of the most random threads for a long time.

Agreed! Any thread that includes the word 'desertification' (planning on dropping that into casual conversation this evening) and something about "a lovely, slow Moroccan.... being ready the minute I step in the door!!" is heading in the right direction in my book!

Not as easy as all that i know - especially as i would want more crisps than YOU.

True its not as easy as all that. Would every political party be equally represented? Labor, Conservative, Lib Dem, Green, The Scottish National Party, The Socialist party, the Communist party, The anarchist party, the BNP, the Nazi party, Establishmentarianism, Disestablishmentarianism and what if someone a single person comes up with a new political objective 'Dave is God' or some such, should he be represented?

And of course if you get rid of Royalty and Religion (I'm guessing your neither royal or religious.) Then people will only fight about Ethnicity, Sex, Money, Political belief, Family, Clan, Land, The land you live on, Moral orientation, Sport, Environment, Resources, Age, Technology, Knowledge and Food. And when we get rid of all that? People will probably fight with people of different hair couler.

We are pack animals, its in our nature to get into groups and fight other groups. Since killing animals would be an act of sport or food preparations the only thing left to fight is ourselves.

I agree with everything else you say however :D

You can. Its called 'exiting the thread'
And as for Bees!!! Pah, don't make me laugh... Bees are just plain stupid... they let us steal all their honey... all the time!!! Ants would never relinquish their grip on their prime commodity!! Ants win!! Very Happy
Ant's suck. Bees have not only worked out that in order to survive on this planet they have to be useful to humans but they also set up a defense mechanism called 'swarming your ass' to deal with people who take to much. When was the last time you heard anyone go "Aghh an ant"?
Some people might go 'pesky ants' if there's a whole lot of them, but one single bee can inspire more terror than a whole picknick table of ants.
Btw. what about spiders?
What about them? State you case.

We are now adding 'the corporations' to our list of enemy's
Down with the Demigod Ant corporation alliance!

Also it seems I have a problem with the quoting button can anyone see what I've done wrong?

But Bees are important to the survival of Humans -In making honey they cross pollinate 1/4 of the crops on the planet - without this there would be lesser crops and starvation - It is us humans that have to work out how much we depend on bees and not vise versa

Spiders eggs fell to earth in a meteorite (fact) which is why they provoke such fear and disgust... they are Aliens!!! They have far too many legs than are strictly necessary. They are also loners who prefer to hang out on their webs reading Jack Kerouac and listening to Chet Baker. Spiders are aloof creatures who believe themselves to be in 'the beat generation' and as such are unable to contemplate global domination or any sustainable method of world government.

Bees are merely sycophantic honey mongers who wouldn't amount to a hill of beans if we didn't provide cosy little wooden houses for them.

Ants meanwhile are scientifically proven by Hollywood to be more susceptible to massive and unusual growth when subjected to any type of radiation.... So once we've nuked ourselves silly watch out for mutant ants the size of transit vans - they will rule!! Oh and they can also smell 'colours'. And once they take over remember that there will finally be a woman in charge.... and that might not be a bad thing?? Hail to the Queen!!

Thanks for the warning Lady of Mystery.... But I'm afraid the marrow in my shins hasn't yet grown back since my kicking during 'the fiddle thread'...

Your just against bees because your a Darlek supporter and they foiled your last genius plan with the (what I like to call) Bullsh*t bomb.

Wow this thread is wonderfully shizophrenic and one of the best threads in any forums i read lately. We jump from alien invasion and world domination to enviromental and social issues, rest for some moroccan lamb (great recipe) then continue with theories on ionsects taking over the world :)

ok to spiders...yes spiders are loners but formidable predators int he insect world. they could be a secret weapon against antian domination. and they also tend to mutate and reach enormous size when the same conditions ae there for the ants (and bees too).

There is a nice story by ray bradbury called a piece of wood. there he basically says as long as humans exist they will fght no matter what means they have left. or what reasons. thats human nature i guess ;)

This should be renamed the conspiracy thread but..

I personally despise bees.

Bees are the reason for the spread of pollen, which I'm allergic to and it makes me miserable 365 days of the year.

I think we'd all benefit from a lack of bees.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Your comment is illogical and outside the context of the discussion. No one is debating whether or not Dinosaurs were unhappy at their demise. However they did NOT contribute to an Ice Age, a Meteor Strike or the like, nor were they capable of changing their circumstances.

We on the other hand are directly contributing to our own circumstances. The two issues could not be less related.

Dinosaurs were selected for extinction by nature. We have not been "selected", some say we are volunteering.

memorire wrote:So most ppl dont have the need to think or dont feel the urge to change. To be honest neither do I. I am 25 now. I live very healthy and am very healthy. Lets say I will live some more 60 years. Well I dont see anything changing to the better in the next 60 years. We have enough technology fixes to delay the inevitable. So why should I bother? Why should I try ad make the world better for ppl who dont deserve it?

You have injected the other key issue regarding our plight... beyond Generation X, after Generation Y, your attitude reflects the latest gem... Generation ME.

Fact is, the small guy CAN make a difference. In fact it is the influence of the little guy that has encouraged brands like Nike, Reebok, adidas, Billabong, Quiksilver etc to be major contributors in improving the Chinese impact on the environment.
