this link is the discussion relating to JS and Penguin. you will need to read past the initial "aren't Penguin bad, lets boycott Penguin" reactions to get some common sense balance.

it's a shame really since i think Jay Sanky's work is great, and i hv bought a couple times from Penguin and found them good. i am not familar with Magic Tricks UK so cant comment but the consenses seems to be they are also good.

Sankey Delaers

Thankx for the reply so quick.... but whats the line with the new dealer pulling out? Is it similar, or doesn't anyone know.

I might just go and ask them direct on Monday as I have gotten loads from them and their staff are extemely helpful. The main guy at the shop really knows his magic which is why Im shocked they have pulled out.

Will check back soon to seeif anyone else knows.

I have found www.magictricks.co.uk to provide an excellent service.
It's a shame that Sankey is being so heavy handed with his contract, surely that's less sales for him.
The more outlets selling your stuff, the better. I noticed they only have his Mentalism DVD's on there now.

Sankey Dealers

Postby realmagic » Oct 15th, '06, 14:07

the ones new ones that say they pulled out are www.kernowmagic.co.uk

I have found the guy who owns this to be friendly and knowable about magic even saved my money. magictricks.co.uk are good too and I have used PM with no problems.

I found this forum chat when searching for hijacked on the net and it doesn't sound like sankey is a good guy in this.

Kernow Magic were at the Ipswich Magic Day last weekend and were selling off their remaining Sankey DVDs at half price.

Jay Sankey & Kernow Magic

Postby kernowmagic » Oct 26th, '06, 01:43

Hi Everyone,

Blimey didn't realise we were already getting mentions on this forum.
Nice to see some of these names at the recent Ipswich Magical Day :D

Just so that everyone knows and rumours don't get "made up" .......its true we at Kernow Magic have decided to drop Jay Sankey. However before we burn Jay at the stake or even ourselves for that matter there were a few reasons we took this action.

The deal we agreed with Jay isn't entirely the one he operated after we took our initial stock.

We didn't have a problem taking a minimum quantity of stock as most select manufactures do this anyway. The problem for us was he asked us to negotiate with the other three dealers to agree prices, sales, packages etc.

Firstly this is illegal practice as we would be running as part of a cartel but secondly more importantly it would be anti-competition and therefore the customers would have no choice but to buy at a particular price no matter where they bought it from.

Making sure our customers get the best deal we can give them is important to us.

I must admit Jay writes a good email (toys out of pram) when things don't go his way but after a few weeks of talking with him he did calm down and we are now on speaking terms again :D

Hope that clears things up a bit.

Kenny

Thanks for the inside info, rumours spread so quickly and get out of hand so it's good to have the facts - cheers!

Aye - love his magic as I do, his goofball act doesn't disguise the fact that he's obviously quite the entrepreur... :?
