Ok, so I know there are already two threads on the convention, but I thought it would be nice to maintain a list of those Talk Magic Members who were attending.

Either pm me, or add your name to a message in this thread and I will update the list.

For those interested it may also be worthwhile to start thinking about when and where would be a good place to meet up. I would suggest the Ruskin Friday Lunchtime, but I dare say not everyone will be there by then. Also what would be the best way of identifying the group of TM’ers? Maybe we should all pin an Ace of Spades to our Lapel?

So anyway – so far

well, that list is longer than the one i made! anyway...
Yes, I'm up for a meet up, although i won't be arriving til mid afternoon friday. and i don't really know when things are going on so can't suggest a better time at the moment.
I'll be the long haired beared guy wearing green, carrying a bit of a manbag. or i'll be the one contact juggling while bopping away to some drum and bass

I'll definitely be there.

How about this for an idea:
When you're given your identity badge to sign, put a little "TM" in the top left-hand corner of the badge.
Should be easy to spot othe TM'ers that way>

I don't know if I'll be around that weekend (there's a car crash of things going on), but just in case, can you pay on the door on the Saturday?

Daily tickets are available on the door and I believe they include everything except the evening gala shows. I don't remember any stories of day visitors being turned away because the place was full so there's every chance of getting in.

In that case, I think I'll probably get the early train up to Blackpool on the Saturday and stay for the day.

Going to Blackpool

Postby syoung » Jan 11th, '07, 09:56

Hi guys, a newbie here (this is my first post after my introduction)
I'm heading over from Holland, ariving Friday 8pm ish.
Anyone else staying at the Whitehouse on Adelaide Street?
As I get in this late on the Friday is it still worth me heading over or should I just wait until Saturday? (I've only ordered a Saturday ticket up to now)
Similarly, I have to leave at about 3pm on the Sunday. It's probably not worth 45 squid for a half day but then how do I get to the dealers if I've forgotten something on the Saturday?
Thanks in advance for any tips
STEVE

Hi Steve - welcome to TM - and to ENgland (when you get here).

On the Friday your best best it to make your way over to the Ruskin as early as possible. That is where vast quanties of magicians will migrate and the place will be buzzing all the way through the night.

If you get there early enough you may even get a seat!

As for Sunday - you are probably right. Not worth buying a ticket just for the morning - so try and get all your shopping done on the Saturday. Having said that I am sure there would be a tm member (myself included) happy enough to buy on your behalf the sunday morning if you so require it.

Blackpool

Postby syoung » Jan 11th, '07, 10:45

Thanks for the info.
I'll try to get to the Ruskin asap after I land.
I think my wallet will take a bashing over the weekend.
I was over at Christmas to visit family and drove up to Blackpool specially on Boxing day to vist the Tommy Cooper magic shop on the promenade. I spent 270 quid in less than an hour.
I'll try and make it last a bit longer this time.

Regards
STEVE
