I think it much more important that you get along with him as a person.
Trying to show off, might not lead anywhere. I suggest that you simply go for some material to which you already have added your own personal touch.
Maybe you stick to effect you are confortable with, and then discuss (separately) various moves etc. In general it is always good if there is at least ONE (useful) move where you are world expert! This will always bring you in a confortable situation where other magicians (also the top professionals) can learn from you!
Anyway, I suggest you do NOT try to impress him, but rather try to make him enjoy your magic as well as your company!
Eugine Burger has a chapter in his book "the performance of Close up magic", that concerns performing magic for other magicians. Eugine has many nice insights, and his conclusion is that:
"the real secret to performing magic successfully for other magicians is to treat them exactly as you would if they were laymen. This means quite simply, don't do anything differently than you usually do. Pretend, in fact that they know absolutely nothing about magic, and that you are the magician who is going to share something most wondeful with them".
Magic is slight of mind!
