Er .... no! You think he's psychic?

Yes, of course  !

As for no London dates, the last tour started like that and if I remember rightly, ended with three 'added' weeks in London which smashed attendance records at the time. Pehaps Mr.B is still playing mind games with the folks from the Capital :D ?

I was there last night too - it was me (Jason) that he was speaking to during the Oracle Act before fainting. He was right about the R and A starting my girlfriends name, which is Rachel if you're curious, and was the fact on my card.

The other thing that he was saying, about me changing the locks on my windows, was completly random - the question on my card was about what was the first car I owned, so no connection at all.

I took it to be part of the act, with the whole needing water, not being able to get the whole of my girlfriends name and then being wrong about the locks thing, to be an illustration of what happened when the magicians of the 20s and 30s took it too far and believed that they did have real psychic powers.

That doesn't mean that I didn't have a moment of 'Oh god! I've killed him!' when he first collapsed!

The usher with the microphone gave me such an evil look when it happened too!

I was one of the 10 who got up last night for the pendulum/table scene. A frisbee landed in my lap and the people sitting next to me didn't even notice until i waved it about. Those things are not easy to see :)

Which is why it could work - after all they could have put the house lights up full - but they didn't. Anyway this guy didn't take a frisbee up with him. I dunno, perhaps I'm wrong but I do remember consciously only counting four frisbees as they went out. And he was directly in front of me so if a frisbee had been coming my way I think I would have spotted it. It would be the perfect opportunity to pull that kind of stunt, throw a load of frisbees out in dim light, and have two plants stand up. (Or even just one plant, have him throw a concealed frisbee to a second audience member). The same guy was making the most effort on stage with his pendulum as well (if that doesn't sound too rude...). And he made the spontaneous "I wish" comment that got laughs. I've thought about it (all night - sad or what) and I reckon if I was Derren Brown, that's how I'd do it. You'd also need to have a plant touching the table to get it moving in the 'table turning' scene. Mr Chips - you were touching the table, did it feel like someone was pushing it?

It was funny, the dramatic silence, DB lying on the stage, the unknown, the "what's happened"... and then you quietly going "oops" on the mike that was still live....!

Actually, I did that deliberately (the largest audience I'll ever play to!) then had this over-whelming urge to say "I'll get me coat.." just in case it WASN'T part of the act!

Steady on chaps and chapesses, we're getting close to overspeculating as to details and methods which isn't really what we do here - also, there others still haven't seen the show!

Oops sorry!

I have just been assured by someone privately that my hunch is completely wrong because they claim to know the person I'm referring to. So ignore it all anyway!

But to those who haven't seen it yet, I don't think I've given anything away - you must see him live, it's absolutely incredible.

He's on again tonight in liverpool!

without speculating on methods and theories:), i would be interested to know what you thought of the "Blue Car". Was that designed, or something that went wrong, or complete fluke??

I assumed it was supposed to happen, but Derren sent the wrong guy back to his seat, and it went wrong. But was rescued by the guy having the confidence to shout out from the audience at the end...which ended up making it look for impressive than it otherwise would have done.

..and that isn't giving anything away to those who have not seen the show, as the Blue Car would have been unique to last nights circumstances!

I think that was very cleverly designed. DB paused sufficiently after showing 'blue car' (there was a gap of about 5 seconds) and the guy on the balcony eventually plucked up the courage and shouted out. I reckon it was designed to look like a mistake. reverse psychology. But then who knows, he's always one step ahead. My brain hurts!! I'm becoming more convinced that he's psychic, I don't care what he claims!

It's a bit shocking that he got 99% of the stuff right, there was only that bit where he guessed someone's age as 'mid twenties - 24?' and was wrong. I think that's the only mistake though.

As for the suspended box trick - either very impressive sleight of hand or the bloke is in league with the devil!

I also attended the Liverpool show last night and I have to say that I was blown away by the whole thing.
The opening act of the 2nd half I was not overly impressed with with the 10 volunteers on stage as I have an understanding of how this is done, among a couple of others.

However, I have been studying and performing magic for a fairly short while now in comparison to many of you on here (trying hard to catch up!), but when I first began to study and perform, I felt rather disappointed, and still sometimes do - possibly because I know too much and the magic, wonder and fascination of a trick or effect is not as strong as it once was as a layperson. As performers of magic, we get great pleasure from performing illusionsions and I'm sure that for many of you, providing the wonder and fascination to others is a greater pleasure than seeing an effect where you know the methods.

Having rambled on quite enough here, as so many people will know the methods behind Derren Brown's performance (and I only know a few), there's no denying that he is an outstding performer and showman who is clearly passionate about his craft.

I had a fantastic time, as did my wife (who gets a little uncomfortable with "mind fiddling" stuff) and I'd recommend it to all who can get tickets!

I have just one question though.....

Where he was perfoming the Oracle act, someone had put in a card of an offensive nature (insert T**T here) - did this only happen last night or has this happened in other shows?

Trivial I know, but I'm just curious as to whether this really happend or if it was scripted!

Regards,
Stuart

Very briefly, the 'mistake' and the offensive card also appeared at Birmingham although the mistake wasn't actually the same as in Liverpool. Nuf Sed!
