ShbjJesus* Christ! 21 posts per day! Mike really needs to slow down, he beat Monker's record!

Anyways, I've been interested at working restaurants for an hour or two a week. It sounds cool, but the stuff I like isn't all that quick or visual. Kenton Knepper and Luke Jermay stuff is the stuff I like at the moment.
With that taste, what would be the best venue for me?

*Spewing nonexistent coffee all over my keyboard.

Okay guys, since you feel the need to honestly be nice, here, I will speak my mind, precisely and exactly what needs to be said:

You, sir, are so full of sh*t that you stink. I can see it in your eyes and it's coming out of your ears.

You are a waste of the good folks of this site's time. You are a waste of everyone's time. You are simply a waste.

I have given you good advice and insight, you point out where you disagree with historical fact.

Dude - shut up. You don't make that kind of money and I don't believe for one second that you ever did.

I've watched your vids. You don't know the first thing about magic. You are knowledgeable on methods, but you have no idea of how to use those methods in conjunction with proper theory to make them magic - you give us puzzles.

I've grown tired of the time that you waste and the time that you get people to waste. Find another play ground, child.

Mike.

I'm sure it's possible... with a little inappropriate begging that will ensure he never gets hired back to that venue again, his mommy tipping him $50 or $100, and the whole pity thing he's got going for them. Perhaps he was paid to leave?

Venue is everything, eh? So it is.

There is no reason that you cannot ply such a trade in a restaurant setting. You'd just have to choose your restaurant very carefully.

Your one-offs and routining for longer effect would have to be very, very carefully scripted, but it is certainly doable.

There are other venues, of course. Many mentalists run "the college circuit." Or, you may consider making a deal with a local coffee shop where they have poetry readings and such. A mentalist could ply his trade quite nicely in such a setting - and look for clients at the same time (but that's what a restaurant job is about anyway, right?).

Since you are a fan of Derren Brown, then you no doubt realize that he started as a magician. He incorporated mentalism into his walk around gigs and slowly became the man that you see now.

So, the question here is: Are you willing to do some magic mixed with the mentalism? If so, then that gives you a wider target market, since you are more diverse. Sometimes you gotta start slow, or at the bottom, to get to where you want to go.

Same as Derren Brown.

Just some thoughts - I hope they help.

Mike.

(A sincere) Thanks.
I'm too young to get into college stuff since I'm just 15. My original interest was in magic. The new interest in mentalism is fairly new. No more than six months old. Still, I can tell I'm going to stick to it for a while. A coffee shop sounds nice...

Just out of curiosity, if you started six months ago, and you're on Knepper and Jermay's material already - what happened to Corinda, Annemann, Osterlind (ETMMM)?

I think to really get anything out of Jermay you need a grounding in suggestion, Deepr and Deeper Johnthan chase, Slight of mind and the The new encyopedia of stage hypnotism. To add the Crdza list of good books I found S.A.D by Looch to be a good step up from 13 steps, It has a lot of stong routines in there and some good ideas on billet switchies etc. Aslo Eillot B's switch craft is a must have for billet work.

Trust me these books above will alow you to get the most out of Jermay and Knepper.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

So be it. Bye to everyone and thank you. I will no longer be a waste of time. I am going to go take up piano now.

I just bet you wouldn't be so bold if you were speaking right to my face. I know more about magic than most my age. Now that you.ve cooled down (I hope) I will be seeing you. Thanks for that, by the way. I thought everything was sorted out (ie: Roblaughter) but you come along and ruin it.

Bye

Michael if you would put as much effort into your magic as you do posting on this forum you'd make a lot more use with your time. You might even learn to palm a card properly.

And although you may feel that some of the things said were harsh. They had to be said. You've posted something like 7 new topics in the space of 24 hours. I've started 2 new topics in 6 months.

Can you please just consider something the next time you go to post something- This is Talk Magic NOT Talk Michael Kras!!

I feel bad about saying all this to a 14 year old but c'mon Michael please calm down and remember that Rome wasn't built in a day.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.
