Erm, surely he uses these things as very subtle misdirection?

Probably, but it was just nice to see it there...whether it was part of the method or not.

Although it wasn't a major part of the method, it helped reinforce it. I cant say too much about why it was used without fear of exposure.

Personally for me seeing someone...who should NOT have been peeping into the fence in the first place!! Look and then fall over was extreamily funny.
If he didnt want to fall over he shouldnt have looked  . I thought it was really funny stuff. :D

picking it to death

Postby spudgun » May 13th, '08, 15:23

is it just me or does poor old derren have his stuff picked to death (and i think pointing out the patter interupt is kinda exposure) i mean if it was a card trick and you said "oh yes and he made the card appear at the top by doing the .... and the a .. to make you believe it was back in the middle then back at the top if you gety my meaning :? ) then i kinda think that performer is entitled to ask you politely to sling yer hook. I mean i understand the fascination (really truly i do).....however i would wager never has a performer had his act discected so readily and so frequently.

but hey its just my opinion and as i say i understand the fascination but jeez loooooise

David Tennant will be on it this friday. I'm not sure if he thinks he travels through time or just see's into the future though.

I personally didn't like tonight's show as much as last week's kitten one

3 reasons:

1) I thought the stuff used tonight was fairly simple stuff to be honest...though I did like the way he played it all up!

2) he normally does a mini effec in between it all (guy falls asleep at fence...memorised beans...) yet today he didn't...was a bit of a let down for me

3) I thought that the 19 year old girl last week was hot 8)

Oh don't you start, I had to put up with Dave drowling over her!

I enjoyed last nights show alot, I thought it was a great example of how to take a few fairly simple ideas (assuming that he was doing what I thought he was doing) and make them into something so much more and so much.

Very well done Derren! :D

I actually preferred this week's episode to either of the first 2. Stretching 2 effects out for half an hour is a bit tedious for me so God knows what lay people think. Last night's 3 effects, although much 'simpler' were made much bigger & reminded me more of the 'Trick Of The Mind' format which I much preferred.

i was foxed by the automatic writing though...

i do laugh when people say "the simple things" - goes to show how much hard work and thought goes into these simple things to be good enough to broadcast on telly - you'd think we'd all be doing it!

When I said 'simple' I meant pen, paper & participant rather than hospital beds, sheep, snow, planes to the other side of the planet or kittens in a box.

Last nights show was nice, although as said before I kinda miss the mini effects. Just to let you guys know, I'll be in next weeks "mini effect" part. Look out for me, I'm the chinese one in a leather jacket!
