Good point Mike. I figured it was prolly bulky and like you said impractical in some situations, and so far seems like it won't be the best fit for me. The price doesn't help either. For now I'll just keep the Raven pinned in my blazer LOL.

P.S. Good point about just using sleight of hand for the business card effect. Probably take as much practice as using the Widow.

Im interested in a blackwidow but some need some answers first:
1-Its durable? like... how many times I can use it before it gets broken?
2-In the video is shown to make dissappear the item with 2 hands, its possible with one?
3-Its heavy and secure? I mean, can I run and do lots of movements (like other tricks) without making it fall?

Black Widow...

What a piece of kit..... Big up for James Bond fans.

I dont own one but have tried it. So clever its unreal.

One thing that i must say on the matter, think about what else you will be doing before or after.

As a one off effect, its a killer, but will you sacrifice other effects because of the system.

Just my veiw.

I just bought one Black Widow!!

Postby cashFLOw13 » Apr 30th, '08, 14:34

Hi everybody!
I'm new to this forum and not a professional magician nor a english native speaker so please excuse my probably dumb questions and/or my terrible english...

I just purchased a BW!! I didn't receive it yet but I can't wait for it!!!
Since I'm earning quite a lot as an Auditor the question of the price didn't so much arise but I nevertheless have a few questions:
- Is it possible to wear the BW all day or would it be too uncomfortable?
- Does it need a set up or can I perform impromptu if I am wearing it?
- I think that some of the postings are contradictory - some say that you can perform with short sleeves, other say you can't - so whats the deal? I usually wear long sleeved quite tight t-shirts - would this also work?
- Is the spectators angle an issue or can I perform regardless of the spectators position??
- Can you do several "echanges" in a row?? I mean change a coin into another coin and then again into another coin oder do i have to "reload" again??

Thanking you all in advance!"

1. No. except sometimes, but it's not an all day thing, really.

2. Sort of. There's something you will have to do before you work.

3. No

4. Yes, but you'll see this when it arrives.

5. No.

Take care, Ian

UPDATE: Finally got my BW

Postby cashFLOw13 » May 11th, '08, 12:07

So, it arrived at last!
I just wanted to let you know about my experiences with the BW by now.

1) In my opinion the idea is great but the finish really sucks. If you know how a BW works you could build your own much better if you're a little of a do-it-your selfer.

2) Simply wearing somethin long sleeved is not enough - If I'm wearing a suit the jacket has to be so large that it looks not only awkward but really stupid!

3) Mouth doesn't really work that well - you would have to use brute force which would give you away!!!

Conclusion: DOn't buy it or if you buy it be prepared to be disappointed!

3) I never had that problem, it always worked very well - after rectifying a problem of my own creation. Are you sure it's not "caught up" inside?

Wow.. surprised that black widow is still going strong. I never liked it, cos i prefer impromptu or not have to wear long sleeve.

But this is definately a james bond kit.. :D

Practical?

Postby LukeMF » Jun 2nd, '08, 20:51

I have got a few quid to spend at the moment, and im thinking of buying black widow, for my walkaround and close-up routines etc. But the big question is... is it practical? Do i need to spend half an hour in a closit setting it up first, do i need to attach wax to a spectators nose of something stupid? Is it entirely useable in 'real world situations'... please help!

So, basically you've got £125 to blow, right? I could be wrong, but I believe that you can get the entire Tarbell series for that...Let's see, thousands of useful tricks vs. a quick, one-off that is finical and will only be able to be used if specific conditions are met (like long sleeves, etc.). I can't speak for anyone else, but I know where my money would be better spent.

Mike.

It does seem like a hell of a lot of money for the effect. I think I'd rather stick with Bobo modern coin magic for a fiver and learn a hell of a lot more tricks.

i see it as your paying alot of money for a shortcut...

very few shortcuts are worth it in the longrun...

even i was interested in this when it first came out, and i dont even DO coin magic...im not very good at it at all...i can do maybe three moves well enough for what i need from a mentalism point of view, and thats enough...

i love watching good coin work...but anyway, the thing i learnt was in Bobo, as someone said a fiver, vs one hundred and thirty...

i can now spend one hundred and twenty five quid on fine wine, cigars and women instead...and still amaze them with the same effect...

only kidding about the "women" bit...you cant get a good woman for £125 these days, not even in ASDA...

I used this thread to make up my mind to purchase. I did. The product is great. But I do not trust it every time.
I say this two weeks after receiving it, and around 8 - 10 hours practice.
