That made me remember our sweetshop opposite our school strangely nicknamed "Scratty Battys" used to sell this stuff called "Scrummy" which seemed to be different choclate bars such as toffee crisps and lion bars ground up in to a powder and then sold by the quarter.
It was crackin'

Yeah, they still sell it round my way, too. I was just warning people against the severe tooth-decaying properties of Wham. They will rot your teeth good and proper. Innit.

Is it really Speak Like A Pirate Day? Is this a national thing, or is this just a TM thing?

It's a national UK thing, it was on the radio this morning as well.

They had comic strips on weird plasticky 'paper'.

You can still get it. Arrrr. Or something.

Well, you could still get it a couple of years ago, anyway.

What about sweet tobacco? That must have gone to the great sweetshop in the sky.

Did anyone else see the story about Monster Munch this morning? They are bringing it back in its original size. Sadly, I don't think they are bringing back the beef flavour, but you never know!

Nerds and Dweebs were great. I remember the twin packs with two separated flavours. Cool.

I'm not as old as some of you old boys, but one thing i really liked was a flavour of monster munch. I can't remember the flavour exactly but the packet was purple/blue, in the days before the foil packs, when the pickled onion were red (i think) and roast beef were yellow.
Also some cheap 10p tomato flavoured crisps which were shaped like elephant.
-Tangy toms you can still get but they're dirty now.

And apple jacks!

I also remember buying some cheap sh*t called clay cola. That stuff would definitely have to be illegal nowadays.

For a long time, they kept on messing around with the third Monster Munch flavour. There was roast beef and pickled onion, but the last one changed lots of times. I seem to recall a tomato sauce flavour, and before that it might have been something like smoky bacon.

Re: Monster Munch, some of them were fang shaped in addition to the claw shapes you just get now. Ah, those sepia tinted flavoured memories! Glad Scampi and Lemon Nik Naks came back tho. Mountain Dew was alright as a drink too.
