I am being challenged!

Postby mark lewis » Sep 18th, '10, 00:13

It seems that we have unbelievers among us. I received a private message thus:
.............................................................................................................
If you're really a psychic, use your powers to tell me something, I'm not sure what kind of psychic power you claim to have, but I'm sure that you should be able to tell me something. I will honestly say if it's true or not, but don't think you can palm off poorly put together barnam statments and think I'll get them to fit.
...........................................................................................................

The sender of this missive is a young chatterbox who has just joined this forum but seems to be running it like a tight ship on the trick card thread. He obviously has ambitions to be a moderator. I can't remember his name because it is one of those silly anonymous ones. Anyway he is the chap with the bad spelling.

Anyway I will be delighted to take up his challenge once he shows himself.

This is my only post on this as I'm not going to play to this guys ego. I know there are enough people out there who feel the same. I did tell him that I wasn't after a fight, just a discussion, and when he thretened to give himself a stage, I lost interest because I knew he would just mis-quote things I had sent him. If anyone actually wants to know what was said in these pms, please let me know and maybe I'll post the WHOLE set of messages. not snippets that are selectivly cut to make the other look bad.

That is all. For those of you who take mark seriously, I feel very sorry, but I call out to people who are like me not to feed this guys twisted ego.

I would be quite delighted to show the full text of the messages but because I am the milk of human kindness I refrained from doing so since it would put you in rather a bad light. After all, you were the one who contacted me first.

And I haven't misquoted you. The above were your exact words.

It seems to me that before getting agitated you should look at all my previous posts since you have so much time on your hands. You may learn something.

You really can't come on here as a newcomer and boss us all about you know.

Anyway you said I had backed down from your challenge. I am putting this up here to show you that I haven't. You wanted me to tell you something about yourself. I shall be delighted to do so. Just tell me when you are ready. Or are you backing down from your own challenge?

Oh I knew it, I justknew from reading all the other posts from that kid on here that this was going to happen eventually.

Methinks this won't last long.

Well out of interest Mark, do you claim to be psychic? And if so why cannot you complete his request?

(sorry, but I'm very much a sceptic myself)

I think Mark is perfectly happy to complete the request. I think that is the point of the thread. Mark wants to demonstrate his powers but is waiting for hds02115 to confirm his willingness to participate.

Which won't happen because hds said this would be his only post on the matter.

Damn.

Mark, the following is not a joke, nor is it sarcasm or meant to insult or cause any sort of harm or upset. I am not sure if you like/trust me enough to talk to me however:

If the origional poster is not willing to continue; I would be more than happy to be the person you "read". I will say now that I am not a believer in psychic ability myself, but I consider myself intelligent enough to be able to tell cold reading from the real thing, and I also think that I am open minded enough so that if you do manage to perform the incredible, that I will be honest and conclude to myself -and others- that you are genuine.

I'd love to try this with you some time. I find this all very interesting and I promise that I will be open and honest about any findings we may have.

What do you think? :)

Yours,

Tom

If he wishes to back down from his own challenge that is his problem. Sceptics cannot chatter interminably about the rather silly Randi challenge which is as genuine as a twelve pound note if the particpants accept and they themselves back down. The same goes for this impertinent child who sent me a private message out of the blue telling me not to advertise my products and tells everyone not to go off topic. He has only made a few posts and is now ordering everyone about as if he owns the place.

And no. I am not going to accept challenges from anyone else unless they pay in advance. So they needn't bother banging their gums together. I am far too busy and important for that sort of thing. However I am making an exception for this young man since I fear that he needs spiritual redemption for his unworthy soul.

First he has to make his mind a blank. That should be rather easy for him.
Then I shall tell him something about himself. However, if he doesn't want to pursue his own challenge that, of course is entirely up to him.

I would however recommend that he consults with the Randi Educational Foundation to get advice before he issues challenges that he doesn't want to pursue.

PS. As for Mr Grue and his unworthy and terribly rude remark I shall only say that if his intelligence were two points higher it would equal that of a plant.

Mark, why are you charging for a test reading? I would have thought that "passing" such a test would make you more money in the long run; and I can't imagine it would cost you anything to "read" someone?

I am not an expert, I cannot claim to see inside your head. Please tell more.

Well first you have to pay psychic tax, make sure the 'phone' isn't off the hook, and then send a letter of request. Do it straight away.. Don't be silly. I love how convinently the challenge has come to nothing, and I'm going to stop reading any replies before the personal attacks come. If you truly were psychic you would have seen this thread coming up a long time ago.

I am charging for a test reading because that has always been my policy. And in fact I charge sceptics double since even if I produced two tons of ectoplasm from their left ear they would still express doubts. I therefore will be wasting my very valuable time and naturally I do have to charge for it.

I am always amused that sceptics never actually want to pay money for a reading and always expect things for free. That is the problem with the rather silly advice given in the Ian Rowland book where you are supposed to go around baiting psychics. He doesn't explain very well, however how you are supposed to do this when you have to pay in advance. He does give some silly advice that the psychic will get so annoyed with you that they will return your money and want to get rid of you as soon as possible. I wouldn't take a chance on that myself. Not only is there a danger of not getting your money back you might get a hex put upon you into the bargain.

That wouldn't work with me , I am afraid. I would always take the money.
However I am reversing the habits of a lifetime for this unworthy child and am offering him a free piece of information as a result of his own challenge which he is now backing down from.
