I am just glad to have some magic to watch.

I liked the mouse in the blender and I thought the duo's first trick where one climbed through the other was well done too and I actually found the hypnotist funny this week as normally he makes me cringe.

What was the Bulgarians name Crazy Dave? I am impressed that he can do that but could not really see the point.

The escapologist does make me nervous even though I know it will be O.K. he does make me nervous.

Overall not as good as last weeks but I enjoyed it and it is the TV highlight of my week infact I think its the only thing I really watch.

This may sound silly but I think as people with magical knowledge we sometimes forget to just watch and enjoy as we are too busy trying to figure out what is happening or are put off because we know how it is done.

I heard a quote from Michael Ammar that he was doing a lecture and started with a new trick of his and after he had finished a few people clapped politely but nothing special and then when he explained the trick he got a standing ovation.

Have a nice weekend all

Dean

I think that's why I like the escapes. The equipment is cobbled together from stuff lying around the house (or so it seems), and you wonder to yourself if he'll actually escape this time, or will something collapse and injure him.

Cheers,

I missed it! I have a stinking cold, and after a very large dose of night nurse and a hot toddy I was dead to the world after the Simpsons! I must admit, I am not totally distraught at missing it, I have slowly lost interest over the last couple of weeks, but does anyone know if it is repeated in the week at all?

In response to mark C I also like the fact that the escapes are cobbled together. It kinda makes it seem more real than Vegas showmen in chains.

Well I thought tonight's episode was just awful.

I just can't abide Stuart and Barry's style of presentation, sort of geeky teenager. Peter Firman is by far the best resident magician on the show and the guy in the house who produces the animals is getting so repetative.

The hypnotist was lame - again and the ecapologist was only slighly amusing. That too is now wearing thin. The start of killing Foxy is the cue to switch channels if you;re still watching.

The bubble guy was entertaining as was the guy with the nails but there's not too much that you can show in the small amount of time that they had.

Finally, I wonder how many complaints they'll get for the rabit from the hat routine. A somewhat different routine and the only thing that was original.

I really enjoyed the animals in the house. How the hell did he do that glass production of the mouse!! I thought that section had the only real tricks and the woman freaked.

Other than that the only other bit I liked was Pete Firmans but he's doing Tom Mullicas act!!!! You shouldn't steal someones closer.

The rest of it either didn't seem funny enough to make up for the lack of magic.

Yeah, I thought that yesterdays was one of the more entertaining shows, but not because of the magic - there's a lot of standard effects that people have seen before such as the money change, the animal production etc. and it just doesn't really bring anything new to the table. They should be doing some original magic that people haven't seen before. As it is it's just basic effects made to be a bit edgy.

the rabit from 'hat' was naff!, I've seen childbirth and the rabbits smaller

bubble magic made a nice change and the bed of nails made from 4 nine inch nails was good!

and the monkey makes me smile

I believe the monkey was played by Nick Frost - he's a very funny guy, though I think his talent was wasted on this show.

Yesterdays show WAS the worste yet ... by a long shot.

I dont even know where to begin ... maybe i will start with the good point and work backwards.

The escipology scene was amusing again, you do have to chuckle at it.

The bubble guy was quite entertaining, although you do have to question the complexity of his act, I'm sure most people could do that after being shown once or twice.

Again the nails sequence was a little weak, as it requires no real tallent of skill to lay on a bed of nails, the average man could do it (if he wanted to)

EVERYTHING else was terrible, in particular i thought the Rabbit from the "Hat" routine was awfull ... Stuart and Barry are terrrible performers, in particular the tall one of the two ... the build up to the trick relied on the fact that the woman gave brith to 17 rabbits .... they then pull 1 ... just goes to show that between the two of them they can barely produce even 5% of a magic trick.

Again with the swearing this week, even more so than the initial 2 episodes i think.

Earlier in the day I'm sure i saw E4 advertising an Magic Week, at first i was excited, but if THIS is going to be the standard of the shows then it is a sad day for magic.

If we support one another then we can get through this terrible time.

Rob

To be honest, when the glittery assistant took her bikini bottom off, I sort of lost all interest in the trick. Something about Aberdeen, I think.

E4 is starting a week of Mental Magic as advertised on last nights' Dirty Tricks. It might be good, particularly the show about tricks going wrong.

As for last night... Pete Firman doing Tom Mullica's act... even eating the cigs at the end was a bit disappointing. Also the balloon guy... didn't I see him on a Paul Daniels show when I was younger? In fact, I originally saw Tom Mullica on PD as well. The nail guy was good, but brief, and I have seen more extreme nail-based tricks at the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow.

It was OK last night... again the flatmates enjoyed it, and that is what it is setting out to do. It's only us magic anoraks that can name specific tricks and when magicians are ripping them off!

Next week is the last one... wonder if it's the one with Lucie in it?
