PS3 vs Xbox 360 vs Wii

Postby Citrus » Oct 12th, '07, 00:09

So which console do you think is best? - Take into account the power, graphics, game play and the games.

My vote is for the 360!

Will give the reasons for my choice after I've got some replies, I'm just interested in what you guys think.

Also don't just go for the PS3 if you thought that your PS2 was great, i want informed opinions which have been taken from the specs, screenz or you actually experiencing the console. Thats to all you PlayStation fanboys

has to be the PS3...you can download games, and the control is wireless!

Plus, there was this real cool Duck game I played at a friend's house

though I *did* have a fun experience with the wii! We were playing tennis, a friend was watching, I dived for the ball and jawed him one...punched him right in the cheek! Now *that* was a fun evening ;)

You can't even being to compare the online of the PS3 to the 360, the online capabilities of the 360 are far greater than that of the PS3. Its more reliable, you can get the downloadable games which are alot better, addons, you can share videos and do all the usually checking out your friends skill levels and scores of games. Also you've got to remember that Microsoft were the founders of console based online gaming and poured a lot of time, money and resources in achieving the best possible on-line experience for the players, which totally swallows that of the PS3.

Also the 360 has wireless controllers! Which are a hell of a lot more comfortable and sexier than than the PS3 and Wii.

PS3 definately. It's the most powerful of the lot and it has Blu-Ray! I've also never had any problems with the times I played online.

I'm going to stay away from the Wii. I played it a bit at work when we got the display console in and it was fun for a bit but when it comes to a better and more enjoyable gaming experience I'd rather have improved physics and A.I. (which the power of the PS3 should help bring about) than a controller that I can swing around. PS3 controller has some motion sensing anyway and I prefered that duck game to baseball and bowling :D

Also looking forward to Home.

Although having said all that I haven't played it much. I don't think I've even turned it on for a while :D (Strictly due to lack of games of course  )

Definately PS3.

We had a Wii at Xmas. Novelty wore off after 2 months. Crud graphics, awfully hard gameplay with temperamental and innacurate remote, and generally a good idea, badly executed.

We also had a 360 last year... Awful thing. I've had a regular Xbox for ages (still got it in fact) and love it for the gameplay... but in typical MSoft style, the 360 is just an attempt at capitalising on your audience—with zero bang for buck.

PS3... wow factor from the moment it arrived. Great games, great features, swiftly done, and executed with beauty.

Sony & Apple have always been brand 'style' leaders for me. Never cheap, but you certainly feel your money is wisely spent.

i would of gone ps2.... lmao
well the wii as siege said is a good idea badly done....
the ps3 i have played on and i cant say i enjoyed myself as i thought if i had bought this id have to sit around being a hardcore gamer and play it constantly to get my moneys worth...
whereas the 360 is just as good if ure not as serious with gaming and has great online features aswell which i love... DID I FORGET TO MENTION ITS PRACTICALLY HALF THE PRICE!?!? lol that seems to be the decider
though i see nothing wrong with ps2... its just all the good new games are out on ps3 and xbox 360.... eg. EA SKATE!!

We've got a wii and I think it's brilliant fun, so much more fun than the boring old playstation.

I love this video, makes me chukle everytime :D

We thought that too... Mrs S. was addicted to WiiPlay, whilst I was really enjoying WiiSports.

Sadly, after the Xmas socialising (i.e. having peeps round for +++fun) died down, so did the Wii use. It's fab when there's a few of you with a couple of bevvies, but as a 'serious' games console, it's a bit last-tuesday.

Oh, and we also found that playing in daylight caused havoc with the controllers.

PS3 evry time.

Never fancied a Wii, looks like a bit of a novelty idea. And the Xbox controllers are hideous, clunky things. They were slightly improved for the 360 (by making them more like the Playstation ones), but are still inferior.

getting a PS3 with a bunch of games in january when my redundancy money comes through.. cant wait..

I always hated the PS. always preffered the others like N64 ( Goldeneye anyone ?? ISS ?? Diddy Kong racing ?? ) and even I thought the dreamcast was better than playsation ( Shenmu ) but then I got a PS2 and my opinions changed rapidly.

The PS3 looks unreal and I hear that the gamesare good. never played one, not even played the 360 but the majority of games on 360 look tripe.

I havent played a console for nigh on 18 months.. have a PS2 and gamecube in the cupboard... hmm maybe its time to dust them off!!

I'm bias to Nintendo so I would vote for wii but since I haven't played a playstation 3 or Xbox 360 it would be unfair so I didn't.

The controller can get a bit annoying at times when the cursor disappears off the screen and you're pressing A to get it to recognise it and nothing happens except the little lights at the bottom flash a couple of times  but I've had no problems playing it during the daytime. During Zelda it does become a bit annoying when you drop your arm and it keeps prompting you to point the controller at the screen

I went through a period of not using it mainly because I had become stuck on Zelda, I can't comment on the graphics between the three consoles because I haven't played a 360 or ps3 but I think its fun especially wii sports, Zelda and Super paper Mario and what other console allows you to lose weight and get fit at the same time?

We have all three (we're all big kids in the pudding household) and the 360 gets played far more than the other two (Halo 3 on an 8 foot projection screen is something else!). Having said that, they all have their pro's & cons, the Wii games are more suited to our 8 year old and the PS3 likes being fed the occasional Blu-Ray disc too. I think it's down to personal preference, we seem to be able to find more games we like on the 360 so I guess that's why it would be my choice.

I'm not really interested in waging war on iraqis or shooting blood sucking aliens, Dave's into all that stuff and our house sounds like the West Bank sometime when he's on the computer. But I like the nice, simple fun of the wii, they're so much better for fun two player games like tennis and the boxing.

Most of the games on the wii are probably suited to 8 year olds (or anyone who loves cute platform games like mario and zelda) but Resident evil 4 and and the upcoming resident evil umbrella chronicles are definately not.

One thing I forgot to mention in the last post the wii has the virtual console so when you get tired of playing the latest games you can play games that were out previously on the NES, SNES or N64 and its backwards compatible with gamecube discs as well. Do the other two consoles have these features as well?

More than anything its the franchises they own like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and previously Starfox before Rare was bought by Microsoft and these are probably more famous than any of the main characters in any of the best selling games by Microsoft or Sony because they've simply been around longer.
