we do have secret areas on here y'know...

the public are supposed to try and figure out how he did it - we are not...

The secret areas are not accessible to all members though. As I stated in a previous thread any number of assumptions as to how it could have been achieved are irrelevant. Even if we did happen to randomly get the "right" solution it will just be buried under all the other "right" solutions as no-one can be certain.

I think it is a credit to Brown and Nyman that their peers are not only discussing it but heatedly and with much disagreement. That must be a far bigger compliment than some layperson going wow.

Incidentally, there was no jackpot winner last night and Saturdays draw will therefore be a roll over.

I think that this adds a little more intrigue to the event - don't you?

We will have to wait untl Friday to find out if Derren gives the real explanation or one that misdirects.

Does anyone else has the suspicion that the secret he'll give away on Friday is how to get 10 million people staying in on a Friday night to watch Channel 4?

I can't help but get the feeling that there's going to be a strong feeling of 'meh' amongst the non-magic and non-DB fans communitys when he tells how it was done unless he conjures up a hugely elaborate and complicated method. The problem with most magic is that the methods are usually so mundane that to the layman any sense of wonder disappears as soon as they find it out.

If it turns out it was a camera trick or a cunningly placed mirror, I guarantee there will be a whole bunch of people calling him a cheat or a con-artist as if they really believed he could have predicted the numbers in advance and then they realised that actually he's an illusionist and it was all a 'trick'.

After Russian Roulette I heard lots of people talking about how it was 'fake' and 'a scam' quite missing the point that only a total lunatic would point a loaded gun at his head on TV without making 100% sure in advance that it wasn't going to blow his brains out. There was so much debate about whether or not the bullets were real, that most people totally missed the point i.e. he predicted which chamber had the round in.

I can just see this happening again which I think would be a real pity as I thought the whole thing was brilliantly presented and performed by Derren and his band of magical desperadoes and he deserves a pat on the back for spicing up the usual boring tv we're subjected too.

The minute of non-activity on Russian Roulette is incredible. Watching it for the first time, years after the fact, on DVD my heart was in my mouth.

The one thing I want to know is where everybody else seems to have seen TV ads for the series! And so far ahead of time, too. The only TV promo I ever saw for it was a few-seconds clip Wednesday afternoon, just Derren saying something along the lines of "be sure to watch tonight".

I know that this is all over the place in the news today but take a look at http://www.yahoo.co.uk.

The news article appears to suggest that forums such as TM are being viewed by the journalists today as some of the suggestions made earlier in this thread are printed as possibilities in the news article. Split screens being one of them.

There are some weird and wonderful methods from the public too includng the one about the 12 MINUTE time delay between the draw and it being broadcast. Plenty of time for someone to phoe or text Derren the numbers.

Also, a conspiracy beteeen the BBC and C4, a fixed lottery to sell more tickets for the weekend are suggested and also the unknown fact that the draw is always made on the afternoon and it's the refording that's shown live, not the draw itself so there is plenty of time to get the numbers :?

interesting

That way, there'd be no perceptible shift when the camera switches between the loop and the live feed, as nothing has been physically moved.

They did move. He adjusted a few of them with his finger and they move freely.

correct - but did you also note that all of the numbers on the balls were angled upwards?

IAIN wrote:why the public display of all our wonderfully grotesque and heaving egos though? why can't we just admire the man for being a great example of a mentalist? why do we have to try and pull it all apart?

have we forgotten how to keep secrets? why do we feel the need to show off?

why can't some of you just email your friends in private and discuss it if you really feel the need?

this kinda stuff makes me both very angry, and very sad...

Who is showing off? Nobody here seems to know how it's done so that means we are showing off how stupid we are if anything.

Yes, I have been wondering about that. The camera was going to be in front so why would they be angled upwards slightly.

Thats thats so you can see the number. If they were straight on, the edge of the holder would obscure them.

I think its a terrible thing to sugest that anybody on this forum, with the exception of Mr brooks, Ian, myself and ...( oh alright you too  ) could be thought of as their Peers.

I would think that they are both equally complimentary, we all are members of the audience, just some of us have read some magic books. When I see derren perform, my first reaction is always of wonderment and astonishment. After that I start thinking about how he did what he did, and it's that desire to know that got me into magic in the first place. In no way can I speak for derren or andy but I would think that they would be happy knowing that people were entertained and tickled by what they were doing.
