i watched him last night in liverpool. not sure if it was the excitment of the evening but i felt a little let down by the occasion.

thats interesting, same thing happened in the liverpool show 14th may. first person wasn't in (revealed later he was in the shower), then she wanted to phone her brother, but 'didn't have the number in her phone', then the third time when the backup person phoned someone it worked. might just be a coincidence, but thought i should mention it.

This thread seems to have been invaded by first time posters trying to find a pattern in the spectator generated hiccups to prove there's some trickery involved. Of course there's trickery involved. That's the point! It's just not where you're looking, that's all...

But you won't find it like this, that's absolutely guaranteed...

I assumed it was supposed to happen, but Derren sent the wrong guy back to his seat, and it went wrong. But was rescued by the guy having the confidence to shout out from the audience at the end...which ended up making it look for impressive than it otherwise would have done.

sounds similar to what happened on monday in liverpool with 'shark'. the guy who was sent back was sat behind me and i shouted out at the end ...interesting.

there was an card with an insult in on monday night in liverpool too. he threw it out to the audience to read. 'was something he didn't want. a child encouraged by other children he was with' lol.

Bottom line - Derren sticks to a script just like the rest of us !

Ok so Im a bit late on this but I did go to the Hull show on the 8th
Yes I did think the second half oracle did go on a little long for my liking
But all the people around me including the rest of the people in my group
where utterly facinated.
Rosetinted I really cannot agree with your review. I didn't see any lack of conection with the audience.
deccy so you went up please tell me you are not related to the green frocked thing with the fantastical blond hair that also did the pendulums.
Also having watched the show I nipped to the local Pub (OEG) which has a view of the stage door. Just as it was my round the man appeared and I got off scott free from my round due to mitigating circumstances.
All I can say is DERREN BROWN IS A TRUE GENT either that or he is an awesome actor. He saw everyone who waited for autographs, photos, lengthy chats and at all times I genuinely believed he was very happy that people had waited in the cold to see him.
Just as a side note did anyone see the weds show I was told by a freind who works at New Theatre that on the second night he switched from frizbees to sponge balls because of the way they were ricochetting around in the low light

Hello all, this is my first message here. Please be kind...

I was at the Cardiff show last night, and I just had to write to say that I was simply blown away from start to finish.

Although I have an interest in magic (ever since I saw the Secret Cabaret back in the day), I'm not a performer and don't yet want to know any procedures or tricks in detail.

But it's fascinating to try and figure out how some of DB's acts were done, and reading the posts here has proved very interesting.

I see that some of his other shows may have fallen a little flat, or parts may not have worked as expected, but last night's was simply flawless and he had the audience in the palm of his hand throughout.

I have seen table tipping and the ideomotor before (although I did not know the technical name for either) but they both worked well, and as for the Q&A... Wow! I filled one of the envelopes but wasn't lucky enough to be chosen. Even still, the sense of anticipation, of knowing that you could be part of something special, was terrific.

To anyone who hasn't seen the latest tour, you really have a treat in store.

I also saw the show in Liverpool on Sunday 13/05/07.

Indeed it was a great show, but not as great as his tour last year. I think the oracle went on too long. And the ideo-motor routine would have been more interesting if I didn't have previous knowledge.

My friends that accompanied me however, were truely amazed, and I didnt want to spoil their fun, I spent those few minutes wondering how he was getting away with it.

I think more time could have been taken over the number counting at the end, it went by a little too quick. But other than that,he's a truely amazing showman, and I hope to see him many more times in the future.

I think what shines through from the entirety of this thread is that, love him or hate him, Derren really is a true showman and is able to create a situation whereby the spectators rejoyce in speculating how a trick was done, even if they're way off or have no idea. And I, for one, salute him.

I like others was totally blown away by Derren's Show, saw him last year and thought this was much more impressive and slick. Got to do some audience participation on stage, being the sucker for the card trick and then "mind read" the 3 audience member cards. It was a real honour to meet the guy, he's so genuine and so good at what he does. Lots of discusion in our house as to HOW does he DO IT? Really don't want to know just happy to be entertained.

And still they come!
