Update, Jennifer Saunders is only in the part for one episode - they seem to be releasing only part of the information every two hours or so!

Blatantly those shop dummies were the scariest bad guys! Or mayb the cybermen...the Daleks weren't scary...just..odd :)

I thought the weeping angel statues in the last series were pretty scary...

Yeah, Stephen Moffat's stories are usually top-notch, and deliver the best one-liners for the Doctor, as well as some excellent scares. If memory serves, he did the gas masks episodes in series 1, the girl in the fireplace from series 2 (my favourite episode overall so far) and blink in series 3.

NewWho fan here!

Bit narked off when my m8es were like "oh no...Rose should stay with him permanently", but all companions go in the end.

Also...considering the amount of energy blasts/bullets/bombs/grenades and all other sorts of nasties being fired at him, the doctors a really lucky chappie :D

I ran my own (VERY small - seven members) Doctor Who fan club once, way back when I was still at school.

At a 1989 convention, I came in a home-made Davros costume made from garbage bags, liquorice allsorts (for the buttons), and other bits and pieces. I won a signed photograph of Sylvester McCoy, but it seemed to me at the time there were so many prize categories that almost *everyone* won a signed photograph of Sylvester McCoy.

As you might gather my interest is mostly in the classic series.

I'd probably like the classic series but with modern day special effects, not the "salt-shaker" daleks as they're sometimes called.

I think we should discuss episodes with magicians in them. Talons of Weng-Chiang, anyone?

Sylvester McCoy is an amateur magician and there was episode, The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, where he performed as part of the plot. Geoffrey Durham provided the magical tuition.

What an appropriate prize, considering it was Mr McCoy who met the killer robot made from liquorice allsorts, aka the Kandy man, in one of the more bizarre episodes (The happiness patrol, 1988)...

Obviously Flashy's lawyers would like to point out, that the Kandy Man character was in no way based upon or linked in anyway to the liquorice advertising icon Bertie Bassett and any striking. or indeed, uncanny similarity was of course totally and utterly coincidental...

That's actually how they described my costume when announcing the winners ("the next prize goes to the Davros / Kandy Man cross"). The thought hadn't occured to me until that point, so it took a few moments before I realised they meant me. Each winner was given a choice between a signed photograph of Syvester McCoy or Sophie Aldred.

Re: Doctors doing magic, another example I can think of is Jon Pertwee materialising a bunch of flowers in The Three Doctors.

I can remember Peter Davison doing a coin sleight in one story (might have been 'Kinda'). It was just a simple French Drop, or maybe a retention vanish of some kind.

I quite liked the use of a Chinese magician in 'The Talons of Weng-Chiang', and the effects he did weren't too ridiculous. It was a nice homage to the popular Chinese conjurers, although, like Chung Ling Soo, the man playing Chang wasn't actually oriental at all.

Mr Sin was also a rather nice idea (related art, rather than magic per se).
