I have failed miserably to manipulate this template in both Serif and now gimp.

The tutorial just doesn't seem to work for me.

Anu suggestions guys?

Do you have the updated Gimp template from Shawn?

Not yet but I have just opened an e mail from Shawn telling me how to get it. So I will have another go tonight.

Nice piece of work from Shawn I say, he picked up my comment and came straight back to me personally.

I like good customer service.

Just got a batch of 20 pics back from photobox. Chose the 7.5"x5.5" size - which unfortunately doesn't allow you (or at least me) to have a border. All the sizes below this give the option of a border so bear that in mind when you choose. I've managed to get around the problem in my case, so if anyone has a similar 'tight border' and wants an easy arts 'n' crafts solution feel free to pm me.

I've found that 6"x4" matt (with border) from photobox to be absolutely perfect. Photobox also give you a load of free prints

I also downloaded the Adobe software for a free months trial and have made loads of different photo templates for as many different presentation ideas as I can think of.
I think this is a great solution to the more fiddly gimp software and it is also free.

At the end of the trial you keep your Jpeg file templates and tell adobe to go do one

I got an earlier version of T2P from Shawn when he did a UK tour last year. I've never got the hang of photoshop or gimp (and Shawn's earlier version didn't have instructions for using these).

I use a programme called Snap ProX on mac and print my own photos (4 per A4 page) on normal photopaper. Works a treat and takes me about ten minutes to set up and print a new photo. Just thought I'd mention that for any folks struggling with software. PM me if you need to know more.

Cheers
W

Recently bought this and am very impressed.

Quick question for the folks that have worked with this. Most photo papers have a faint watermark on the back e.g. saying 'Epson' etc. Do you think that seeing this unmixed at the end detracts from the effect? Do people notice it? Do they care? Does it make it stronger? And does the photobox paper have a similar feature?

Many thanks!

why dont you just try it out for yourself and see how it goes? if someone says "no problems for me..", and then you go and do it - and you get someone saying "hey...whats with the backs?", their advice becomes 'wrong' for you...

I'm not being arsey, just truthful...

when it comes to this kind of thing, no amount of people saying "don't worry about it" will help, but...

don't worry about it...give it a go...watch where and when you focus their attention to the different points of the routine...

PS - i do not have this routine, just a general bit of advice

But, having said that, I performed it for a woman who is very shrewd and very clued up, and she was gobsmacked. She even examined the front and the back of the photo.

Not once has someone asked me to explain the watermark. I would say that it's because they know that photolabs don't make mismade photos available, so that makes the restoration impossible.

No-one is looking at the back of the restored photo, not in my experience anyway.

I have given up with the template in both Photoshop and Gimp. I have resorted to cutting and pasting with a pair of scissors and a pot of glue

Santa bought me this last night and I have to say that I'm very pleased with this DVD.

I loaded the photoshop template into Microsoft Digital Photo - I think that most photo packages will open photoshop format images. All I then did was to select the photo that I wanted to use and then drag and drop it over the pictures in the template before re-sizing. I also cropped the original image into quarters and used these for the gimmick side of the photo. It took about 20 mites to do all in and then I saved it as a .jpg. Well worth the effort and overall it was quite easy. I don't see why there would be a problem using most photo packages using a the drag and drop, resize and crop features.

Having read the previous posts on this thread I do think that many people are looking at this from a magicians perspective when considering whether it makes sense or not. Lay people tend to look with their eyes and not their minds.

Here's an idea that I came up with today.

Have two images on the print, the main one gets mixed on the restored print while the other corrects itself.

I've done this with an email address so far on a promo photo. The photo gets jumbled whereas the email comes out correct.

That's correct; I mentioned this in my original review. The automatic function that Shawn uses in his template was introduced in Photoshop CS3, I believe, so you can use any version from 3 or later.

Nope. It works with my CS2.
