Dual time zones, dual Tardis/Tardii trherefore dual possibilty of shrapnel... or it could just be part of a genuine Police Box...

Bear in mind that Mickey Smith chose to stay behind in a parallel universe from where it was said he could never return... and he came back. Ditto with Rose who was forever lost in that universe... and she came back....

They came back in disguise, though.

And are now masquerading as 'Conservative Democrats' or 'Liberal Conservatives' or some other oxymoron...

2 hours of mediocre TV to give us a really nice tension builder. I hope they don't just wash it all away with it being an alternative timeline and there being no dnager for the crew that we have gotten to know.
I am hoping that the Doctor is genuinely in some imminent danger and has to do something brilliant to rewrite the time lines so that he survives. That would be compelling stuff.
But are the writers up to it?

I really hope they're up to it!!

There hasn't been a really *bad* episode so far throughout this series (anyone remember the Donna-centric ones from last time around??). I always felt that the Eccleston/Tenant shows were very much from a show that might have been called "Russell T. Davies' Doctor Who", whereas I get the feeling that Moffat is much more concerned about the overriding history of the show and the character. It certainly comes across that way on the "...Confidential" shows - which are brilliant companion pieces, btw if you've not seen them!!

All in all, I thought this week's was a terrific episode. I agree with the comments about the make-up artists. They do an absolutley bang-up job!! The big death in the show was totally unexpected (in my house anyway!) and the shrapnel piece sent my little boy into fits of delirium as he bounced around the house asking what it all meant.

This is terrific family entertainment - which is exactly what Doctor Who should be!!!!

Not the most groundbreaking story, but the ending was very nicely done.

I never like it when they introduce famous historical figures into Doctor Who - Shakespeare, Dickens etc... But they did the Van Gogh thing very well. It went beyond having just a token familiar face in the episode.
