My theory is that the collective psychic powers of the nation willing Derren to fail so the posh nob didn't get the money actually affected the outcome.

Perhaps the whole series was misdirection for stealing £5000 from an 'unsuspecting' member of the public.

Ironically, the ending was a bit of a gamble for Derren.

Will the public go for the 'he nearly got it' thing, or will the dark cloud of 'fail' rain on his parade.

I'm sure this doesn't need saying but, a casino you can secretly broadcast from???? Seriously? You can't even get mobile signal in most casinos.
As for taking a secret camera into a casino, hmmmm. I have a feeling that just maybe they have the technology to detect that kind of thing. Even the most fanatical Derren followers are going to struggle to believe that.
Very silly indeed.
Anyhow, bedtime for me. Some of us have some serious drinking to do tomorrow. Night night.

The newtonian roulette people only had a 44% advantage, apparently they weren't perfect.

True, but there are very few that would schedule something so fallible to be their big ta-dah. It's better drama to put the risky stuff mid-show, so if you fall flat on your bum, you can still pull yourself up off the ropes with your amazing failsafe finale...

Hmmmmmmmmm I agree

The rhythm of the whole series of events just seems to have been so very....... well, Un-Derren, doesn't it?

Maybe we were expecting too much....

Loved it. Can't be arsed talking about it, though. :)

Kind of... strange for a finale. It seems to me that the most effective and crowd pleasing of the events (in terms of the interest it generated) was definitely the lottery prediction. I guess that kind of fits with the reversed teaser trailers though... :P

Yeah, it's all seemed a little bit off to me. I think it's because we're used to either his normal television shows or his live events (and the recordings of them), which both have different feels to them (of course!)

This sort of mixed the two, with the pre-recorded with a live studio audience thing. You could tell there was editing going on, and it didn't feel natural with an audience there.

I liked all of the different effects in all of the shows, but the actual 'events' left me a bit cold, mainly because I don't believe (with the exception of the lottery draw) a single second of the 'live' stuff was actually live.

The phone calls, the text messages ... it all felt pre-recorded.

He might be trying to teach us a lesson about not believing everything we see on TV or something, but I don't think the majority of the public are bothered enough to think too long on it.

To be honest the only DB "event" I've watched was Psychic Spy last week which i quite enjoyed. However am I to understand that tonight's was the last show and there was no very clever finale that drew all the previous "events" together? Is the collective opinion "disappointment"?

I would have watched tonight's episode, but I have a very rare weekend off (apart from a kids' show tomorrow afternoon), so me and the wife decided to have a "disaster weekend". We watched Cloverfield tonight, and tomorrow it's Spielberg's War of the Worlds. A bottle of wine, Doritos plus dip. Class.

There is only one thing worse than being talked about...

My gut instinct is that the miss was deliberate, but I could easily be wrong. I enjoyed the show, but I think weeks 2 and 3 were better. I think my favourite bit this week was where Derren (apparently) got some chap to hand over £5K and promptly forget about it.

I just wish Derren had had the testicular fortitude to end it leaving us thinking the toff wasn't getting his money back. That would have been a finale of sorts.

Oh, I like it! I think it's really jolly good! The only bit I didn't like was Tom Cruise jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey's couch.

Have I gone far enough off topic yet or shall I keep going?
