It was great fun seeing Van Gough's paintings brought to life but it was a shame they had to use a bloody pop song at the end - really took me 'out of the moment'!

And, after years of being linked on fan-sites as a possible Doctor... I thought that Bill Nighy was criminally underused! I'm starting a letter writing campaign to get 'Dr. Black' back as a companion for a Christmas Special!!!

Not sure about next week's show from the look of the trailer.. I really can't stand James Corden!!! :(

It certainly wasn't the most entertaining or gripping episode so far but it was the most interesting and emotional one. Odd that after 40 minutes you care more for Van Gogh than you do for Rory.

I was expecting a crack to have appeared in one of the paintings at the end though.

Yup, the invisible alien turkey was more of a hinderance to the episode than a help. I got the feeling that it was there just because the powers that be dictated that it needed an alien somethingorother.

But in terms of character and emotion, it was a stunner.

And hahaha at Dale for 'crying a bit'!! :P

interesting....

In 1985 a film called "Fright Night" rocked cult horror fandom with a frankly ridiculous concept: a teenager, who is an avid horror film fanatic, gets some new neighbors who happen to be vampires. No, it's not the cleverest film ever, but Doctor Who viewers will be excited to know that David Tennant has been cast as Peter Vincent.

In the original film this character was the host of a late-night horror show, but this time around he is reported to be a Vegas-styled magician whose act involves horror-styled imagery. He will claim to be a vampire expert who is not much help when the teens need his 'skills'. The character was the third billed in 1985, so presumably Tennant's character will be similarly important. David Tennant lovers will recall that his NBC pilot "Rex Is Not Your Lawyer" was not picked up by the network; this is therefore his first American media entry that is independent from Britain.

Wikipedia has an excellent article on "Fright Night", and additional sources (saying the exact same things) can be found here and here.

For sure - it's seems to be tradition now to have more of a light-hearted episode before a big 2-parter to end the series. I throroughly enjoyed this week's episode... even James Corden didn't ruin it for me, as I feared he may.

Looking forward to River Song again next week - lets hope the Moff can keep all the balls in the air to bring the entire series to a satisfying close, eh? :-)

Just thank god they didn't end the series like that!
Then you would have to wait longer.
Can't wait for next week. But also don't want it to end again.

SPOILERS ALERT

I had it pegged as being the Doctor inside the Pandorica already, and he would either come out and team up with the SMithster, or be an anti doctor, sort of like the Master but the actual doctor charater, driven mad by centuries of guilt etc. Not sure where it's going next week with all major players out of the game but am looking forward to find out.

I had a similar idea.

Either way, this looks to be a phenominal 2-parter!

VERY good. Almost makes up for the stunning mediocrity of the rest of the season,...almost.
